Just responded-sorry life has been out of control of late. I'm happy to take it on either way, though if you can play from over there that would certainly be appropriate.

Turn resent (Chaunk has been active in the "other" forums, so I'm assuming that after so long a delay while I was away he just didn't recognize my e-mail addy when I first sent the turn)
Also sent him a PM to say the turn is in his e-mail inbox

Sorry for the threadjack, but have you remembered to vote in Hall of Fame elections? Darsnan could get in this round with your support.Last edited by Illuminatus; October 13, 2006, 10:19.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Apologies for the delay, Googlie's email did indeed get spam filtered.
I'm having a few problems with the turn though, as I've just installed windows Vista RC1, and well SMACX simply won't run. At all. It gets to the old "Your processor is not supported" etc. line, and then instead of continuing as usual, it simply returns to desktop.
I have set ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=1 in AlphaCentauri.ini and applied the latest patches, so I'm running short on idea's. I've filled the problem with microsoft but don't expect any responses to be lightening fast.
Any ideas apprieciated
Ps. Congrats Darsnan, much deservedPlay hangman.

Any so-called "run this application in WinXP mode"
With new and new operation systems, these options in theory should get better.
Another option is to install a virtual PC software. Still, you would need an operating system for that virtual machine, installed as on a real computer. Maybe an old Win 98 or ME version?

The virtual PC software is now for free download. It's microsoft, iirc

some other thoughts:
sometimes changing these between 0 and 1 (in any combination maybe)
ds3d=1
eax=1
in the ini file may help
sometimes, the game just must be in the foldr:
Program files/firaxs games/... etc.Last edited by Mart; October 17, 2006, 02:19.
