So The Mob has spoken! This game gets more interesting by the turn!
Question for our upcoming Spartan game: should we follow this same guildeline from the start? Also, are we all agreed as far as game settings are concerned? So far all I've been able to glean is that we want a Large map, and perma-pacted AI's. What else here? I think we should start consolidating our agreements for the game, so that we can submit to mart7x5.

Hmmm, on the eve of our Indepence celebration I remember that a little over 200 years ago we kicked the crap out of the "unsurpassed superpower" of the time. Not that I'm infering anything.....

hmmm-- Isn't the sunspot thing a function of random events and if you turn them off, you won't get any ??

I'm just thinking that I can't remember seeing sunspots in my previous PBEMS so I figured there must be some setting which is typically off .

Congratulations to the Consciousness for their successfully researching Doctrine: Air Power. As a friend of Planet, we urge the Cyborgs to always be conscious of the ozone-depleting effect of those noodles that soon will be streaking across Chiron's sky

(And note to Flubber - yes, sunspots are a random event that won't happen unless the random events flag is activated)

Your general announcement about my research status informs one player who would have remain in the dark under PBEM commlink rules. Is it common practice and perfectly ok in all PBEMs to make this type of general announcement? While it has little impact on our current game, I am curious.

                • In any tournament style game, I'd say it was more or less completely off limits. In this more relaxed setting, I'd say it's fine, although probably should be confirmed as ok by both players first or something.

                  Anyway, 2171 to NW.

hmmm--- so the chouice is to turn random events off (whereas I am sure the decision to have it on was deliberate) or find a way that everyone likes wrt sunspots

                      Rats - my apologies

I was trying to be cute and roleplay regarding ozone depletion, etc, and didn't think thru at all the ramificatioons of revealing research achievements during commlinks (or any other times) - notwithstanding the three or four posts about discussions during commlinks

To paraphrase de Vicenzo "What a stupid I am" (almost echoed recently by Phil Mickleson "I am such an idiot")
