I don't know why anyone would want nukes. They are evil horrible things, and I certainly would never use them against my enemies.

I called a vote for governor today.
    So far:

Setroc - 222 votes for himself
    Lal abstains
    Sven abstains
Morgan - 33 votes for Chaunk
    everyone else ???

I believe that Sven abstaining guarantees me victory.

All the faction leaders are looking a little sad in their portraits, so my first new law is that Dierdre is not allowed to wear any clothes. This should cheer everyone up a little bit. If Dee attempts to break this new law, mind controlled peacekeeping forces will be sent to her island immediately.

    • Sven wouldn't even listen to my big fat threats bribes. Sadly.

I now have +4 probe. As I understand it, this should render my bases untouchable, and yet doesn't due to a bug. Whilst the ai cannot be expected to play as if the bug were not there, I'd expect players to do so. Note that this applies only to my bases, my units are at +2 as previously.

      And turn sent.

      • Hmmm ... as I remembered it, you needed a probe unit stationed there to protect a city ... AIs would probe the snot out of me without them, unless I had a couple of secret projects done.

            • Oh and I called a vote for revoking the UN Charter. As you all know, this will benefit us all and allow free trade between all factions, which is much needed to inject all of our economies with new wealth.

              --Planetary News Network broadcast--
Chairman Setroc of the Hive, the recently appointed Planetary Governor today called a vote to revoke the controversial UN Charter which he believes clings to out-dated ethics of a long-dead society. The Governor issued this statement:

"If our society seems more nihilistic than that of previous eras, perhaps this is simply a sign of our maturity as a sentient species."
"A common talking point amongst the people of the Hive, and of other factions has been my use of nerve stapling to control the populace. I do not regret my actions, and neither do my people. Terrorists that attempt to undermine the state by causing destruction of property, and risks to public safety must be stopped, by whatever means are necessary. Nerve stapling is unfortunate, of course, but why should we all be punished for these events which in the long-term promise to benefit mankind?"
"While there are many aspects of the UN Charter which are good and right, it largely clings to a past that we are better off forgetting. Since Planetfall, our main concern as a species has been survival. Well, we have survived. Now we must look to thrive in this harsh and unusual environment. The rules and morality of a bygone era can only hold us back from achieving our targets, from achieving true happiness, from achieving transcendance!"
"Let us not forget that the only reason that this farcical charter still exists is because our tyrranical ex-governor, Brother Lal, wished for an excuse to war with my faction. While attacking only civilian targets of the Hive, he preached his morals, and attempted to force his beliefs on my people. Well, he payed the price for going against me. Will you?"

              • Since 4 out of 7 were already against the repealing of the charter, I abstained, seeing no reason to throw my weight behind a failed measure.

Perhap$ if the Governor wi$he$ to pa$$ mea$ure$ he propose$, giving people a rea$on to $upport him before hand might be a good idea.

                Regardless, MY 2183 turned onwards.

                • Well, with my position who would want me to start trading anyway? It was a lost cause when the AIs voted nay really. But I couldn't resist the opportunity for a speech.

If you didn't get it, let me know.

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''

                          • I'm intending to have transcendant victory here. Of course, maybe if I had more PBEM experience I would have done something sooner, but right now I'm miles from anyone that I'd want to attack.

                            • Where's the turn? Is a resend needed anywhere, or is it just a matter of some time being needed?
