At the last save you were 8 pop to 3. While the way you took advantage of your starting position to maximise turn advantage was creative and unexpected, I need to know if I should avoid replicating the circumstances in future CMNing.

You cannot foresee all things. What gave me the additional advantage was unity pods, what you can see there what they gave me. And this is what you could not predict, I think. Now it is more pointless, as I have already more of the stuff I need at the moment.

Definitely much of rainy tiles and rolling and rivers make early ICS fast. Bases were established the same turn cp was completed (if 2 tiles away) or just next turn. Rivers give more energy. Having for 10 turns no research I could additionally get a bit more energy. But mostly from energy reserves from unity pods actually, what was several times more (75 and 25)

Smacx is too complex in many areas to perfectly foresee things. Sometimes you may give a player many bonusses and he/she will not see it. Another time something that you consider not that good is combined with yet another detail you did not expect and faction grows more than you predicted. I designed a few games and I could observe this.

I think that smax has better balance of unity pods than smac. I do not recall any smax game that would be quite "preferential" in GNI in smac most of first unity pods gave me mindworms. I lost 3 scouts having almost no exploration done, and no good bonuses from the pods. big drawback. here I got just several good things of the kind that helped me maximize population and there you have 8:3. Also mindworms are bigger nuisance in smac, as I noticed. I think smax was corrected re unity pods. I read it somewhere.
