No one was posting their e-mail addies, and there's no discussion about game settings.

So, what game settings would everyone prefer?

You have already too much players (3-4 is optimal) and you just need to find a CMN (which is your job if CMN doesn't appear himself).
Regarding the # of players, Zalek and Chickenbrain haven't posted here at all anymore after announcing they'd like to participate. Which isn't really an encouraging sign for future activity. And to be honeest, I'd like this to be a game with veteran players, and as far as I can tell Zalek and Chickenbrain don't have much PBEM experience (my apologies if this isn't true). Which means they'd be probably be easily overrun, which isn't fun for them either.

So personally I'd prefer to play the game with AndiD, Hercules and GeoModder. Would that be ok for you guys??

I can not tell you much about ChickenBrain, but Zalek is one of the most active players @CGN and I think he'd even overrun you if got some luck.

Please hesitate before making such statements. People might take them as an insult. If you said this about me, I'd be pretty insulted.

Some players here have lots of expierence but still play worse than relatively new ones. I for myself have 5 years SMACX, 2 years MP, >1 year PBEM expierence. With each PBEM I earn something new, but it does not change much. If you haven't got strategical thinking, no expierence can help you. Hercules is in 2 games with me and can confirm that although im quite less expierenced than him Im faring pretty well.
The same is true with Zalek. He's new but he's good.

About game settings. Cmon, you're Spartan - go on and state your most favourite and then discuss them if someone prefers something different!

As you started this, you should organise it.

          How about these rules?

I don't really care about spoils of the war. I assume they'd be beneficial for the Cult and Spartans, but whatever.

Spoils of War is also beneficial to the AI, don't forget that.

            For the rules:

You may want switch intense rivalry on if you gonna have beefed AIs.

Them being too friendly to someone does no good to gameplay..

I'm available to CMN the game, if needed - but I see that Ouro_827 has already volunteered, so I don't want to step on any toes

(Ouro - do you want to collaborate on this one, and I'll walk you through some of the innovations we CMN's have come up with for making the AI more competitive?)

Personally I'd prefer no intense rivalry, or preset likes and dislikes of AI factions to this or that human faction. I rather like the AI attitude towards you to depend fully on how you act to them.

Also one of the main reasons I like the Spartans is because they can explore faster, and meet other factions earlier to make all kinds of deals. Intense rivarly would partially eliminate this dimension of the game.

The same goes for Morgan & Commerce.

I don't mind beefed up AIs - technologically and in terms of intelligence if that is possible but I would mind numb aggressors as AI.

It isn't stepping on my toes. Never mind that I go around in bare feet. I'd love to see what exactly you do to tune up the AI! You have my e-mail from another game, I believe. Glad to be of service!

Well (Ouro, I'll e-mail you regularly with suggestions/comments, etc) it looks like a fab four:

                        Maniac - Sparta
                        AndiD - Morgan
                        hercules - Drones
                        GeoModder - Cult

with the AI as Hive, University and Gaians

Standard map, and in-game rules as suggested by Maniac, as well as external conduct rules

                        Unanswered questions:
                        • Average settings, or abundant native life for the Cult and Gaians (or tweaked to give their 2 factions lotsa fungus and towers?)
                        • 50% to 70% water (like the default Planet - and earth)?
                        • AI to be a credible threat, but not uber-factions
                        • Disable the Empath Guild and the Cloudbase Academy (grossly game-imbalancing for PBEMs?) or leave them in with 80% odds that the Gaians and University, respectively, will get them? (only Ouro can ask me how that's done!!)

Or you could make it a six-way PBEM with Zalek and Chickenbrain added - or, Maniac, you could be in 2 parallel PBEMs with Zalek replacing AndiD as Morgan and Chickenbrain replacing Hercules (different map, and maybe different AI, of course)

                        Thoughts?

I am happy with these proposals.

And yes disable CBA and the Empath Guild.

I prefer abundant native life of course.
But I'll settle for a little red paradise around my starting location.

Well, i fear you droped me from this. No bad feelings about it, but what do i need to do if i want to be part of a SMAC / SMAX. And of course it might be that i will be overrun soon. Anyhow it is still a pleasure to play against human beeings compared to dumb AI which annoys and usually only wins because of unfair game settings.

Take advice from this thread and start a new one announcing you want SMAX. You can also go to CGN and sign up for next tournament or ask for H2H game.
