Wow that was more possible than I thought. I had asked Darsnan how much it would cost to bribe him to vote for Will and the response was 1700 energy which was a bit more than I had at the time. I thought it would be similarly high for anyone else.
But if it was double the energy you had, thats deterrent enough.

Ahh-that's the part I didn't know. I didn't realize their vote wasn't final at that point. Thinking about it, it makes sense that it wouldn't be though. Otherwise, the second person wouldn't get a chance to influence them. Good to know that once bought they stay bought.
Oh and you can pre-buy their votes in diplomatic exchange but I am not certain how long that lasts or if they always stay true to it but I think they do

For instance, if I understood the election process better, I'd have waited two more turns to call the election. The boost from taking Darsnan's capital would likely have made Deirde irrelevant. Ah well live and learn.
But if you had not called the election last turn, I would have switched to planned and begun booming again on that very turn - The cash I was stockpiling was mainly for rush builds in my planned switch, its ability to bribe was just insurance. Your election call was a little earlier than I had hoped and using up some cash caused me to delay my switch to planned--
Bottom line-- I was very aware of the vote situation and was trying to keep governorship. You tried a plan that might have worked if the AI was hostile to me or if their bribe demands were high enough (both are reasonably likely ). The second plan of waiting also might have worked but it would have been a close race I think.
Personally I thought you had seen my cash stockpile and deduced my intention to move to planned with the pop boom that would bring and chose to take your crack now before my pop boom took effect. I was actually cursing you on how astute it was to call the election so quickly and at a time inconvenient to me.
I will be curious to look and see how the vote totals work out over the next couple of turns. I will be a turn slower in my pop-boom in the game versus what I would have been in the alternate way.-- but we should still get a rough sense if waiting could have ensured you governorship

"Some one told me former operators are not supposed to think much, that's good. I think that was the reason I took this job, ha, that and of course the fact the commissar said so." -t_ras: life through the former operators eye
You will note that you will be asked to vote for me as supreme leader. Calling that was actually a mouseclick mistake as I was looking at other council options that might be available--- But on principle I had to vote yes
I expect everyone else to vote no-- It won't matter so I saw no need to replay

Perhaps it was something I knew that you didn't
. But to let you know, the cash requirements to bribe those guys is steep-- Darsnan wanted over 1700 energy to vote for you--

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''
Will will be the first to tell you that I have been pretty open to discuss game mechanics with him or anyone and share the little bit of knowledge that I have
It never occurred to me to talk about AI bribing and when he called the election--- well c'est la vie

"Did ya see the vidcast? Seems we are at war with tras"
"ya -- I saw that -- I seen dat general that wuz talkin' about what good troops we have and how cities from the tras side are convertin' to our church in record numbers. Then that Bishop came on and explained the religous reasons how tras ain't followin' the true path o' PLanet and whatnot-- He seemed all excited about how tras wouldn't let our pilgrims go the Manifold Nexus and there was something about 6 levels to transcendence when they say 8."
"I never could follow all that hocus pocus what the stuff is -- .. . Alls I know is that Bobby and Jimmy been called up--They was tellin' me that they each got a brand new helicopter to fly-- an "Apache" or some such with super duper new mindworm detectors. They was as excited as a kid in a Candy shop"
" Well I hope that they are ok-- I don't think it matters what toys ya got when a mindworm gets mad at ya. I seen this video of some of the wild ones and they showed how they can make your brain MELT-- craziest thing I ever done saw"
