Sorry for the delay.
Also it seems I'm very tasty, cause the worms are eating me!"Some one told me former operators are not supposed to think much, that's good. I think that was the reason I took this job, ha, that and of course the fact the commissar said so." -t_ras: life through the former operators eye

Turn onto Flubber.
Recognizing that recent disasters, such as the sunspots, clearly indicate the gods dissatisfaction with our current choice of govenor, I have called for a new election. The contestants are Flubber and myself. If elected, I promise an above average job for everyone, a trade surplus in every country, and an inflitrator in every faction. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

An election eh?? Since I presume the wormking has voted for himself it would be the remainder of votes up for grabs.Originally posted by wdplays

How many votes does each player have and have the AI declared their votes? If no one objects to a replay I could open the turn to see ( I don't know if you can save right at the voting screen)You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

No need, I guess it won't make any change any way..."Some one told me former operators are not supposed to think much, that's good. I think that was the reason I took this job, ha, that and of course the fact the commissar said so." -t_ras: life through the former operators eye

According to the screen when I voted, the AI's have abstained. The election will turn on the human votes. If I remember correctly, Flubber has 280 votes, I have 128 votes, t_ras has 120, and Hobbes has 58. Sorry for not including that in my earlier post.Originally posted by Flubber

No problem-- Now the question is whether it is worthwhile for me to contact the other humans to solicit votes. I somehow suspect that you already have them accounted for since you called the election BUT I still have to try
We will see if they continue that position when I talk to them..Originally posted by wdplays

Election update
will 129 for will
Flubber 282 for flubber
AI Deidre 34 for Flubber
AI Darsnan 38 abstain
Tras 120 for ??
Hobbes 57 for ??
Current totals
Flubber 316
Will 129 ( 306 if the two humans vote for him as they have indicated they would)
It appears that Will will need the votes of AI Darsnan as well as the two humans to win the election.

Flubber, how did you get AI Deidre to change her vote. When I voted she abstained. I don't understand how a vote can be changed once it's been cast, especially since it appears the AI's turn comes after mine. I know AI Darsnan's does. Is this another one of those subtle learning experiences from the vetran to the rookie.Originally posted by Flubber

Additionally, unless the election cycle runs differently than I understand it will end when I open my next turn won't it?

Ahh -- You can contact the AI by clicking on them and asking them to change their votes-- They then cite a price (in tech or cash) and if you pay it, they will vote as you ask. The price may differ depending on their relationship with the candidate but part of the reason I stockpiled so much cash was to be ready for an election
Turn order doesn't really influence the ability to do this except that once bribed, I think it is impossible to get them to change their mind so the first briber has that advantage. When you think about it, it would be unfair if turn order determined who could influence an AI vote . . .
So AI Deidre should stay true to me and you would need the votes of everyone including AI Darsnan with whom you are at war.

Perhaps it was something I knew that you didn't
. But to let you know, the cash requirements to bribe those guys is steep-- Darsnan wanted over 1700 energy to vote for you--
Oh and you keep playing up your "rookie" status but from what I see, you are doing quite well. You were quite adept in the diplomacy to line up support on what IIRC was the first turn in which you would be a candidate. Plus you are acquiring a LOT of land and bases that can grow quickly. The only reason I have so many votes was the fortuate circumstance that an AI had the empath guild close to me and ripe for capture--
Well Hobbes will vote last and then on your turn you will be governor if you win or myself if you lose-- I don't recall if there is an announcementOriginally posted by wdplays

Flubber takes the governorship by 10 votes. Darsnan wanted over 500 EC's to switch, I only had half that.
Good to keep the game interesting.
Onwards to Will.

PS. Flubber, do you have the OCC2 turn? I've sent it twice.Last edited by H0bbes; August 19, 2007, 05:25.If you want to kiss the sky/Better learn how to kneel/On your knees boy - U2, Mysterious Ways

Ahh-that's the part I didn't know. I didn't realize their vote wasn't final at that point. Thinking about it, it makes sense that it wouldn't be though. Otherwise, the second person wouldn't get a chance to influence them. Good to know that once bought they stay bought.Originally posted by Flubber

Guess he doesn't like me very much. Wonder why that is?Perhaps it was something I knew that you didn't

Well thanks for the compliment. Coming from a player of your reputation, that means something. And while I'm certainly not chopped liver, my "rookie" status does keep tripping me up. For instance, if I understood the election process better, I'd have waited two more turns to call the election. The boost from taking Darsnan's capital would likely have made Deirde irrelevant. Ah well live and learn.Oh and you keep playing up your "rookie" status but from what I see, you are doing quite well.
