As I posted in the other thread, I can sign up to be Datalinks and manual editor/author. I also volunteer to maintain threads and create archives for non-current, but eventually useful suggestions and discussions (wishlists, suggestions, translation problems, etc), in order to keep these out of the way and to condense the information for when the real workers need or want it.

Proofreading. God knows all ye game tweakers need a proofreader.
      I'll volunteer.

It's coding-- for the monkey interface.

Previous experience includes proofing ACEdit after it made me bald. I'll repost it once I find a new home for The Planetary Datalinks.

I might volunteer to port 2D art, too... though Gamebryo has a price tag of $50K ...so I don't think solving the 3D capabilities are going to come from me.

Well, thank Planet. For $50K you could actually build a physical prototype for some of those units. Trick me out a Mustang with a big ol' particle accelerator on the hood.

I've just noticed some good 3D suggestions on other recent threads. If Civ4 can accept other formats than its source output, I'm willing to wrestle with whatever can deliver. SMAC itself has not been so kind.

2D, I'm good for. Attached are a couple SMAC (not SMAX) faction images I worked with awhile back. Most of the buildings are unchanged, but the logos and images are mine own.

In fact, if the Civ4 leader pics are as cartoony as the Civ3 ones, we might be better off photoshopping photos into painterliness. SMAC has a certain standard in portraiture. (See attached.) ...I know a guy who'd probably pose for Zakharov in different emotional states-- but that is for another thread.

            So, I guess:

2D graphics, Proofreading text, definite. 3D graphics, auxiliary.

            Email as above--

Game Mechanics, Feedback. grater at gmail dot com.

It is likely that I'll also contribute in a highly technical fashion, depending on how interesting I find various aspects of C4 modding. But I'm not making any comitment yet.

edit: I use google talk (with the email i gave above), and would nominate/support google talk being the "official" IM medium.

If anyone wants a Gmail address, (and with 2.5GB of storage space, everyone does) then just ask, give your current email and I'll send you an invite.
