Ooh ooh count me in! I volunteer to be a coder. I just happen to have recently finished working on a university project as a coder, and I just happen to be coming up to 3 months of holidays, and I just happen to be a big fan of SMAC Not to mention Civ IV coming out here in a few days.

Sorry for the double post ...

I think I do a better job as a creative writer in addition to programmer.

I was thinking of writing extra material to add to the tech background to give it life which made SMAC so special. The audio excepts of the tech advancement were brilliant, but the history were a bit lacklustre and could do with some insightful anecdotal accounts.

                Me too!

The more I play Civ4, the more I can see that a SMAC2 is possible. So, I wanna terraform again and have sea colonies ...

Can help with non-techie stuff: video and text editing; scans; digital phtography, etc. Finished Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism last year (although I'm really old!)

I also have a DotMac website (if I can afford to re-suscribe for next year); + 2 Apple Macs and 2 PCs.

Well, this is my first post...so here goes.

This sounds like a very interesting project. I loved SMAC (although I never played the expansion) and would be happy to lend a hand in bringing it back.

I cannot commit just yet to full time work on this project; however, early next year I might have more time to commit.

                  My experience and skills:

                  B.S. in Computer Science

Currently a Programmer/Analyst working for CACI as a federal contractor for the Navy (someone's gotta write the programs that keep those Naval ships runnin )

I have knowledge of C, C++, C# (and .NET in general), VB, Delphi, Actionscript, PHP...and so on and so forth.

I would love to see SMAC be revived, and I hope I can contribute toward anything you all might need help with from a technical aspect. Please send me a PM if you wish to contact me.

EDIT: I love the idea of adding to the history of SMAC; also, I'm also willing to help with all the proofreading and creative writing assignments that need to be accomplished.

Sounds impressive. You could help promote us!
Having Mac is good, in case we will need to test Mac-ability of mod.

                    It's okay.
Right now we're just exploring cIV. The SDK will be released early next year, so it would be the best moment to start fullsteam development.

Welcome everyone, with any luck Illuminatus and myself will be getting stuff organised today.

Could we get email addresses please? Its not much good if we can't contact you

Neophius: That sounds fine, nearly all of us have other commitments as well. I'm sure I'll vanish for a while come exam time. If you leave an email address I can add you to a general news mailing list and you can jump in whenever you want. As the SDK isn't being released until next year there will still be plenty to do!

I've just bought my own copy.

I'll probably play civ4 at least 1 time before starting to mod it into our precious though.

I would like to get involved, just not sure what I can do in comparison to those who already joined.

I only really good with the 2d graphics stuff, as I still haven't figured out to do the 3d stuff. I am familiar with with XML considering the various web languages I know like XHTML.

Also been exploring the XML stuff in Civ4 and learnt quite a lot so far, things that could be used for C4: SMAC.

Oh, feedback, discussion, and ideas I am can do as well.
