The beauty of ODPs is they have two chances to take out the missile. Each one you have up there has a 50% chance of shooting down the PB and then surviving. If each ODP has taken a shot that turn, then they will begin sacrificing themselves for missiles. The only disadvantage compared to flechettes is if you enemy ahs more ODPs than you, they can shoot down all your ODPs and THEN PB you. ODPs are vulnerable.


Flechettes are a base facility so the effect is limited to a specified radii around the base but Ibelieve the effect is cumulative for overlapping radii. the facility should work for every PB targetting that base and the facility should only be subject to probe sabotage.

As LAz said, I only use flechettes if my enemy dominates space ( and in that case you are probably screwed anyway)

When they sacrifice themselves for missiles is it guaranteed that they will hit the missile or is it another 50 chance?

I have NEVER been PBed when I have ODPs up so my experience matches the idea that an existing ODP prevents it

gurranteed. 1 ODP stops 1 PB. the 50% chance determines weather you still have the ODP or not.

ODP dont care about ground missiles,and neither do i

check out the sav i attached d=me. yangs army has been shattered, and we have captured a base and killed another. there is an elite probe and vet probes in our city,and sparta\yang are now infiltrated.we took a spartan city and are headed for another. although i did deploy nerve gas only against yang,this is of little concern. trade was pitiful, and now yang will be steadily crushed. now you are the one with a run-away army,if you deploy it right. you also have a surface fleet for defence,and i was heading 6 rovers down to force-pact santiago. all over in 15 turns.

Did you load the sav i put up? if you look it over carefully you should be able to emulate and do something like it.i only took 26 turns to do that,mostly end-turning it along. mostly in response to how you said it was impossible.although i could certainly take the later sav and win from that,if youd like to see how.

Never. Crawlers are always good -- Its just that you might shift them around a bit as satellite resources become available. For example put them on energy tiles as the food sats come online

yes it is an atrocity ?? So Planet will get mad and you will have more worms to kill

The easist way to transcend is eliminating any AI that dare try interfere. Conquer some bases and make them specialists for additional labs etc etc

Yang is losing now. I bombed his terrain enchancements down to like a farm left and I probed his bases so now they are in extremely bad shapes. And some of his bases are already taken over by the morgans and peacekeepers because he was fighting me. Now no one is researching as fast as I am.
