Cataphract, considering that I've got games for comparison and you don't, it would be standard procedure for you to provide a game of your style of base spacing that shows the inferiority of ICS.

        Its your move bud.

ICS's biggest vulnerability in the mid to late game is to Planet Busters. The closer you're packed, the more that'll go boom.

In the early game, it's to a simple rover rush. Opponents could potentially take as many as 3 bases a turn per rover, assuming the usual lack of defenders that comes standard with ICS, and unless you've already got your crawler teams up, you're not putting out enough mins or energy to get defenders up quick enough before you're overrun.

Really, the best way IMO to defeat ICS is to simply keep harassing the player with short, small attacks to divert his resources and interest. Avoid treaties or pacts, they'll only help them more than it helps you, gang up against them with other players if possible, and keep chipping away at their empire until they crumble.

They're certainly heavily dependant on formers. Early scouting of people, ignoring borders should let you know if former harrassment is required or not.

I kinda dislike ICS. After reading some recent remarks in one of the threads, I wish to test anti-ICS mod. some people have good ideas how to do it, however, there are benefits/per base that are pro-ICS. Overall, hard to counterweigh ICSing. To hinder it is more likely.

bah whats wrong with ICS ? its hard enough for the poor Hive to keep up with the pop booming factions tech rates
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

in cIV for our LAN group i think im going to try a thing called squalor off of RTW,and also implement floating point popluations for tax purposes. basicly 1x1 placing will make the most squalor and going 2x2 is less, and something like 3x3 or more would have very little\

have you seen that civ3 mod that had the railroads as metropolises? i want to implement that so that the cities bloat out,and also mondo vertical improvement buildings

also make the game playable in 100 turns like smac for stretegic depth

                    a serious post from cata!

Wel, counter it with extra crawlers harvesting energy.

Econ is only good for peacefull factions anyway.

Excuse me, I'm a newbie to Alpha Centauri/Crossfire, but at the risk of sounding rather ignorant, what does ICS mean? For that matter, is there a list of common acronyms that I might find somewhere?
