23 operational probe teams, 6 in production and 61 lost

Yes, there is some extremely powerful strategy performed by AI regarding probe teams. They approach my bases in bunches like 3, or even recently 8. You take them out using just one unit.

The Cult, caught in between myself and the Agrians, were aborbed by the Agrians around 2250 as well. By 2300 the Agrians were "absorbed" by the Morganites! There are now 3 huge power blocks in my game: Morganic Empire spanning all of the southern hemisphere, The Hive, and the Pirate/ Empire Coalition. For a while the Pirates were pacted with the Hive, but after I probe raped the Pirates and continually framed Yang, why that problem went away....

Darn good thing that CT didn't put Probe Cruisers in this one, or it would've been an absolute bear to deal with!
One strategy I saw the AI perform (or it may have just been an accident) is that the Pirates landed an attack force 2 tiles away from my northernmost base, then parked 3 Shard Interceptors over the pile of units. I only had one drop AA unit in the area, so had to wait and hope Sven didn't cover the units next turn. Fortunately he didn't, and so his attack force was eliminated.
My updated strategy: continue with "Operation Nickel and Dime" against the Pirates, in that I am plinking Pirate units as they present themselves, and slowly advancing the line northwards, taking control of Pirate bases as I go. A second seabourne attack force is currently assembling to take on the Hive's southeastern coast. Depending on how tough the Hive defenses are why I may just launch Doolittle style raids against the Hive by launching my carrier out from its home base, launching all embarked aircraft against Hive installations in suicide attacks, then retiring the carrier back to base to load up with another compliment of aircraft. If the Hive proves tough enough, then I'll probably launch PB's this way as well.....

In my game Empire seems to loose to Gaians. I think Deirdre will conquer them, but you never know. Anyway events develop differently. Hive and Gaians are making fusion planet busters already. Good thing I signed truce with Deirdre just recently. Agrians have air power by now.
Oh, Hive got Advanced spaceflight before me and is doing Living Refinery. I would prefer to have it. Yang seems to be good in crawler cashing in this scenario. Almost instabuilds...

Hive + Living Refinery = Your Toast!

I beat Yang to LR, but lost out on the Nano Factory, which, considering I kill every Hive unit I can, does Yang little good....

The turn after I rushbuilt the Network backbone I noticed that a) Hive had 4 crawlers in the city that had been building the NB (i.e. Yang was attempting to rushbuild the NB! ), and that b) production in the city that was 4 turns from completing the NB had been turned to building a 1/<3>/1 defender....

                Notes on continuing a scenario:

When a scenario is started, it takes appropriate files in the scenario directory (such as alphax.txt or hive.txt) and uses them in place of the ones in the main directory. When a save made during a scenario is started, this does not happen, although certain traits are already imprinted upon the game. To properly load such a save, you need to have all the .txt files included in the scenario in your main directory, achieved using a file swapper program, by swapping files yourself, or having an extra install for things like this.

Alternatively, you can save a new scenario. Accomplish this by hitting Ctrl-K, looking away from the screen while you select "Yes", and hitting Y to disable omniscient mode, then saving the scenario.

I hope not to stir anything here, but I noticed, that although load of the saved game gives me 2 warnings: AGRI and EMPIRE not found, later they are loaded probably correctly, as I see them ok.

Also, Chaos Theory, Agrians for example have 10 traits. Are you sure they load all correctly? I remember, some people report that only 8 are correctly loaded. However while some time I noticed only 8 loaded leaving some behind, it was possible to get more by special arrangement of them. You maybe have that arranged that way. Also I think somehow Mac users may use more than 8 traits.

This all probably will add to confusion.

Well, I just checked traits for agrians. They all seem to be ok.

Chaos, why not to write all 7 factions, or maybe only those with changes into scenario. As I found, game looks for appropriate txt faction file, so if you make changes to hive and name it "hive_sol5" for example, this gives certainty, that original hive will not be loaded

And well, my recent check indicated, that Gaians seem to be loaded ok with their new abilities from scenario folder rather than from main game folder. Although, F1 screen says "old" stuff. Gaians just have ok their new +2 fungnutrients and +1 fungminerals

Some traits are limited to 8, some not, you can see it in one of the .txt files in SMACX dir - faction.txt probably (don't remind).

damn niobe is a right pain in the arse with those free tree farms ! shes never spoken to me once and beat me to govt despite fact i had empath guild, about to pop boom though so hopefully can get it from her in 20years.
Currently running FM and just gifting gaians and cha dawn what they want, gaians are dieing against empire while cha dawn is continually killing pirates and worms in my territory for me

So who gets a deceased Faction's satelites?

So in my version of the game both the Gaians and the Cult have been eliminated. When I finally started challenging Yang for supremacy in space (and the Space Elevator helped immensely here! ) why I noticed that both the Gaians and Cult each had around 20 satelites in orbit! Too bad theres no way to "acquire" these units.....

Anyways, this evening I will end my final turn (MY2324 or thereabouts), receive my final bombardment of Hive missiles against my forward positions, and the next turn I will build the Ascent to Transcendence SP, and the game will be over.
Probably no where near the best score, but I played a very esoteric version of Morgan, never Pacting with anyone, never running FM, and only accepting one Treaty in 2314 with the Empire.
Tough, very enjoyable scenario! I can't remember the last time that I stayed up past midnight twice playing a SP game!

Presently I have 2240, Cult does not exists for like 30 turns. Recently Niobe asked for truce and signed Treaty just a few turns before I could launch an offensive on her base with two good SP, HGP and CDF. Well, that additional energy will be very helpful in making maybe more troops, or I could maybe try mindcontroll that base...

I run Free Market almost all time, just as Morganities are designed.

Yes, Living Refinery kinda pushed Hive on top of the power score. Hive even took back 2 bases pirates conquered before. However, Pirates and Gaians hopefully will take care of Yang for the moment.

                              Re satellites:

Hive build 1 additional nutrient satelite.

In another game, I boosted AI with energy satellites. We had (it is multiplayer) randome events on. Solar flares destroyed all power satellites. I think AI will suffer tremendously, it was so far a good match, but they have only limmited number of nutrient and mineral satellites. It was around 2168. A good point to remember when designing such a game with mostly power satellites and random events on.

In Solstice_2005 I have 2255 now. Vendetta with Gaians only and Truce with Empire. The rest is in Treaty, apart from Cult of course. I even help that trecherous Svensgaard in order to keep Hive more managable. Just expanding to the regions where I still can without war. Agrians even recently took one of the bases from Hive. Oh, Volcano appeared north of Morgan territory, something like SSE from Empire coast. North from Geothermal Shallows. Nice terrain for take over, a lot of rainy tiles there.

                                Darsnan, how is your game?
