I remember someone... I think it was Geo, saying how to alter the alphax file to create these? Anyone want to remind me?

Planet Busting Mind Worms?

Ah, for a second I thought Obstructors' thread was dredged up.
Yes, you can insert these in the #UNITS section of the alpha(x).txt file.
Change one of the native units (mw's, IoD's, Sealurks or Fungal Towers) from a psi weapon to a planet busting weapon. Changing their chassis to gravship helps a lot as well...
If needs I can copy an appropriate line for the unit here.

Quickest way is to find a line in your Alpha/Alphax.txt file (works for both), find for example mindworm line (you can do it for all lifeforms), and change it to look like this:
Mind Worms, Gravship, Planet Buster,Psi, 5, 5, 0, CentEmp, 3, 00000000000000000000000000SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Yes, it does...
But the idea of those busters is that they're planetoids on a collision course, thus giving them antimatter-plate or sth ensures there survival in the turn before 'dropping'.

To have a challenge...
A lot of members are complaining that SP games are not challenging enough, so this is a way to make it so. Your best city suddenly goes boom by a roll of the dice. Can you handle it?

Usually by the time you got such large populations and a lot of SP's you also should have an extensive sensor array network and native life defenses, not to mention Flechettes and ODP's. And there is a window in which you can attack native life before it strikes you after a pop up.
