    It's getting ridiculous...one month, two month, three month, four...

    The incessant seemingly random slowdowns that "pause" the site for minutes at a time, the constant stream of DPs...

    If you guys can't figure out what's going on months after the fact, can't you find someone who will? Won't vBulletin provide tech support? How about your hosts? Has anyone done any performance monitoring to see what is happening when the site enters one if its "pauses"?

    I share your frustration, Asher. It is continuing to take longer to diagnose and resolve these slowdowns than we, as Apolyton staff, would like as well. Given that, we can easily recognize how you and other non-staff members are feeling about and regarding them too.

    I cannot address your comments specifically as I am not knowledgeable enough of the circumstance technically speaking to do so, but I am certain one of our technical staff will be able to in the coming days.

        If you need assistance doing performance troubleshooting, let me know. I've done that kind of stuff on both Unix and Windows extensively.

        I'm suspecting it's the database at fault. If the DB problems go away, so too will the DP (which only occur when the quick post doesn't post fast enough, due to DB problems).

        I'd closely analyze the DB schema and compare it to how vBulletin is supposed to be laid out. Maybe Apolyton is missing some indexes or clustering configurations, such that the odd quirky feature hammers the DB instead of being quick like the code expects. And configure MySQL and its support tools to analyze specific queries that take longer than, say, 1 second and look for trends.

              Is this something only affecting some people? Some times I can't get a response for a few minutes, but it's seldom and I've never got any DPs from it so far. A minor annoyance, to be sure, but nothing more as it is now.

                It's systemwide but sporadic.

                  nothing will be done until Wouter or Gramphos come back for a week or so and do general maintenence for a easy temp fix.

                  There will be no new color schemes, no new site additions (like flags, PvP Tournys/Ladder,) and no new admins to do anything to help for fear of hacking for several years, if ever.

                            The DPs aren't as bothersome as the random slowdowns and server is busy errors. I'm not sure how the server can be so busy when there are so few active posters.

                              somebody(s) could be stealing the bandwidth (DDOS) but who would waste their time, or the said raep-site's security, on this forgotton hole is moar degenerate than even I could imagine...

                              and thats bad.
