I will stop defending the mods, for the time being, as they seem to be doing well enough for themselves. But I do think that many of the posts in this thread attacking them are absurd.

There's a good reason why gloating is considered a sort of sin. It makes you look bad too.

Which is why, as I said, I have tried not to gloat. Believe me, if I was trying to gloat, there'd be no mistaking it.

You're sort of falling into Asher's trap, and people who were previously convinced of his accusations against you are only being more convinced by your posts.

Could you point out the particular post I made that is inappapropriate?

And prey tell, when are the folks who disagree with the mods going to let this blow over? Why dont you take issue with them?

The only problem I see is that some jackass will quote it and also quote a post from another poster and say "why wasn't he banned?" without really knowing the whole story.

Frankly, I find the assumptions that Ming has been making about Asher here fairly disgusting. "He's probably laughing at. . ." While not a direct insult, it is a disrespectful and passive attempt to impugn Asher.

No, actually, you're not. I've been subject to moderator action exactly once. I certainly deserved it, it was spam, and at the time I hadn't slept for about two days, so I was pretty punchy. However, I hadn't insulted anybody or been uncivil in any way...you were still rude and condescending in the series of PMs that followed. It's also left me with the impression that you will now ignore everything I say because I've criticized you, but, oh well.

I'm certainly not somebody who supports Asher. I think he's a serial ass, and have said so on several occasions. The problem that I see is with the attitude taken by administration. Discussion and criticism is only allowed if it follows very narrowly defined terms, and even then is subject to getting yanked at whim. There are a lot of "I'm the owner, that's why" responses, which are not good for creating community. If you want to be seen as above the community, that's fine...but if that's the case, you should withdraw from normal posting. The two don't mix well.

My suggestion, based on what has worked elsewhere, is to never delete anything that isn't explicitly harmful to the site to keep around. If a thread requires mod action, that action should be to move it to a designated subforum, lock the thread, and put a final post in referencing what rule was broken and what, if any, action was taken against the user in question. This provides a clear paper trail so you never have the controversy you have now, plus keeping things public creates an incentive for mods to act more appropriately (or, if they already act appropriately, it removes other people's ability to say they aren't.) Yes, you have the right to be an authoritarian owner, but it is not necessarily the best way.

She was taunted, abused, called a whore and what not by some posters. I'm not talking about the silly "FBI agent" jokes. She was really called a whore, or told that she's a nimphomaniac.

That thread got absolutely zilch moderator response, as far as I recall.

I would comment on that, that b etor asked for it, and from what I could tell appreciated the response she got.

What is an insult to one poster, is a compliment to another, sometimes...

(Well, Whore is probably going to far, but that made once merits a warning, and probably got it. Remember, the issue with Asher is that he ignores warnings. Most posters stop after being warned, because they aren't trying to bait the mods or cause a scene.)
