I saw the thread in question too, Ming. LotM was being an ass and repeatedly insulting Asher. It's something many of us have been guilty of doing. The difference is, this time you banned Asher for calling him on it. Then you compounded the problem by banning him again when he complained publicly. More bannings now don't help things. Deflecting the issue doesn't help things.

The only right thing to do right now is to take a hit and unban people. Sure, Asher will parade around all proud of himself, but how is that any different from how things have been in the OT for years? How is it any worse than the current situation?

Gee... when Asher pointed me to the offending threads, in every one of them, Asher started the insults.

But I guess you saw one of the continuations of the argument. Asher continues to insult people, and gets restricted for it.

The difference is, when asher gets warned, he just continues... when others get warned, they stop

If you want to support members who consistantly insult people... that's your option.

You're speaking as if people leave because Asher is banned, but no one leaves because of getting trolled and insulted (I'm not just talking by Asher here, I'm talking by anybody).

It's a subtle thing. Very few people are going to leave in protest the way KH and Drake have done. But over time, we will notice changes if the administration sticks to its recent authoritarian bent.

It's nice to see such concern for the health of Poly from such distinguished posters. But I can't help thinking it's really a straw man: "I didn't get my way, therefore the mods are fascists." It's like people have reverted to being the whiny teenagers they were when they first discovered Poly.

The thing I liked best was how KH posted a Leaving Forever thread and then DanQ banned him for it. Oh, the irony.

I was not. In a light-hearted exchange with Spike, I mentioned something about being stalked by a jerk. I mentioned no names, nor any identifying traits. Is it an insult to say that I was stalked? NOW that, it seems to me, would be censorship. Should I say that I was stalked, but by a nice guy?

Ashers response was in no way comparable to what I posted.
