The following restructuring within our CivIV forums has been discussed and debated amongst the staff for a little while now and the following changes have been executed:
1. "Civ4 Strategy & Education" and "Civ4 Help" forums absorbed by "Civ4 General", now "Civ4 General/Help/Strategy".
2. "Civ4 Multiplaying"'s "Civ4 MP Tournaments" sub-forum absorbed into main forum.
Prompted by Sirotnikov's notes and suggestions, and my own assessment:
3. "Civilization Series General"'s "Civ1 & Colonization" and "Civilization (Non-Windows)" sub-forum absorbed into main forum; now "Civ Series General/Legacy/Non-Windows" and a forum of "Civilization IV" for greater exposure and related natures.
Some further comments:
- I can see the argument here, but the "History" sub-forum of "Off Topic" will not be absorbed back into the OT. Its traffic may be smaller than "Sports", but it's still an identifiable and viable niche for discussions in that forum.
- "Other Games" does not belong as a sub-forum of "Off Topic". While some "Other Games" topics do appear in the "OT", "Other Games" will remain as a separate forum entity, and their sub-forums within that identity.
- I disagree that the "Civilization Series-General" has even been a bad idea, but perhaps it is better served as a separate forum within the "Civilization IV" grouping once again -- its should get, and certainly previously got, better exposure there even if strictly speaking it doesn't exactly 'belong' in that grouping. (See related note above).
- "Alternate Civs" forums are remaining as they are -- an identifiable and viable part of the Apolyton community.
