Sorry if i was too vague with my last post...

but for the past few months there are NO avatars visible in any of the threads that i click on. usually this would resolve itself by me just hitting the refresh button and the avatars would pop-up again. but recently its almost like avatars have been "turned off" for me. i have heard of others that have had this problem, and others that do not. in my options menu, i have the "show avatars" option set to be ON, but i still see no avatars in anybody's posts.

any clarity would be appreciated...

This is because the server's too busy. It can't handle all the requests it's getting so it shuts off some unnecessary features like avatars to prevent the site from slowing down too much.

As an *experiment* I increased the load limit at which avatars get shut down. Let me know if this works better, and also let me know if the site suddenly slows down considerably. If the server can handle it (I suspect it can as the existing limit was rather low) I'll leave this as a permanent thing, but only if the server can handle it.

indeed Locutus, you seem to have fixed the problem, at least for me. i can now see avatars after you increased the load limit at which avatars get shut down. so far the site is running fine, but i guess only time will tell...
