We've been asking for help in various threads for months now, noone with the right skills and sufficient trust from the administration to be allowed near the most sensitive parts of the site has come forward yet. We've begun training up some of our existing staff and are still exploring other options, but this is a slow process and only takes more time away from what we can actually spend on improving the site.

I think that if you guys shut down the forum for a few days, you perhaps could use the extra time not moderating doing some of the changes faster? I don't know if it is doable, but if it is, I'm sure it would do more good than bad.

With the currently extremely limited staffing we have, it took us 6 months to get to the point where we could finally upgrade our server (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=168159), and from here on out it'll take at least another month or two to finish up that operation. If we took down the site and not come back up until we're done we wouldn't be offline for days, not for weeks, but for many months.

If we had a couple of full-time experienced web designers and a Linux sys admin at our disposal that would be a great idea, but we don't so we'll have to struggle on as we have until now.

More like in PHP and SQL programming, HTML/CSS knowledge alone isn't enough right now (although do let us know if you're interested and only have skills in the latter areas, we may need some help in that regard later on).
