I'm a little confused after reading all of the above. Will AoM install and play okay with the CtP2 v1.11 or are other patches/mods required? Are there any compatible mods that can be loaded before (or after) AoM and still work? Thanks.

      Yes.

      No.

No, at least none of the major ones.

Well, you can run them alongside AoM, but not on top of it. But it's still recommendable to have one install of AoM and one for the other mods if you want to be able to play other mods as well.

My experience was AOM ran faster if the other mod files were not all lumped intogether with the AOM ones.

Thank-you for your help. I just downloaded the file all in one gulp (in 45 minutes). I noticed the contents include the v1.11 patch. I scanned through the files and didn't find any install instructions or a list containing the features of AoM. Any advice on how to install? Thanks again.

I am in the diffucult position of not being able to access the AOM folder to look at it without downloading it. That would exceed my MB limit for the month and take 10-12 hours, and cost me probably an extra $15.00 for the month.

So I am hoping that all the files were uploaded correctly.

There was a Readme and an Installation guide on the disc I sent to Dan.

Do you recall the names? I didn't see a readme.txt or an install.txt.

Sounds like you'd be better off buying the CD, it would be cheaper.

Thats right, it would be cheaper for me to buy my own Expansion pack, give myself $5.00 and keep one I Burnt:-))))))

The files were installation and readme, a word and pdf version.

AoM already includes most of them.

Out of all the Mods that preceded AOM, Cradle is the most similar to AOM because AOM uses just about all of the Cradle files as its basis. Most of what makes AOM different from Cradle is in what is added to AOM - new concepts like outposts, succession, scripted events, new units and techs, a more-focused AI, and updated and user-friendly graphics...

As the creator of Cradle, I view AOM as Cradle v2.0, and as such, Cradle is not needed anymore.

Can someone confirm whether the Installation and Readme files are in the AOM zip folder please.

In the meantime a copy of the Readme can be downloaded from here:

If the Installation files are not in the AOM zip folder, I will post them here as well.

                          Re: Installation Instructions/READMEs et. al.

                          1. Look for "INSTALLATION README.doc" in the ZIP.
                          2. Upon review of the contents of the ZIP, "AOM.Main Readme.doc" is not in it as of this writing.

I have included both DOCs as a separate file, 5.2MB in size (http://aom.apolyton.net/zip/agesofman_documentation.zip), and have added a link to this documentation file from the original post that started this thread (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...97#post3829997) .

                          3. "AOM.Main Readme.doc" will be added to the 'game' ZIP in the coming weeks; when this is done, it will be noted accordingly in the original post that started this thread.

Two people have reported error messages for a missing file, AOM4_strings.txt. There is also a slightly updated Great Library file available from this link.

Just copy and paste them into your english/gamedata folder.

In response to the absent file 'AOM4_strings.txt' in the 'original' ZIP, and the updated Great Library file, you can download the update from the link below.

                                http://aom.apolyton.net/zip/agesofma...ata-update.zip (302KB)

Extract the files to the root directory of where you installed The Ages of Man onto your computer. The two files within the file linked above should extract to the "english/gamedata" folder. A 'readme.txt' file is included in this archive that repeats these instructions.

I have added a link to this update from the original post that started this thread (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...97#post3829997). This missing and updated file will be added to the 'full' download link in the coming weeks; when this is done, it will be noted accordingly.
