A Room With A View Chapter Twenty-One

I love America. America the beautiful. God Bless the USA! We are the Champions of Peace, we are the leader in taking in refuges, you know, give us your tired, poor, wretched slugs, ECT.

I was born in America, State of Maine in the 1950’s. I have traveled to Europe and also to Central America. I have been to Canada. Why I have done so much traveling in my 46 years, one could make a case I could be on a fact-finding mission. I could have been taking inappropriate liberties in foreign countries.

The fact is I wasn’t.

I can’t say that for other Americans. I wasn’t there but have either heard of or read about some that did wrong in the eyes of the world and even wrong in the eyes of those Americans that accused them.

Francis Gary Power, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, Nathaniel Hale, Benedict Arnold with many more over the years we have found out, fought over and fought through to move forward. These folks I knew not personally. I am however an American and thus bear the brunt of harsh criticism because of these.

I think of President Bush and what he knew or didn’t and how our reactions to terrorism have put us in a no win situation, how do we get out of?

But these are all real life historical events. They have been decided upon and the fates long since disposed of.

This morning I awaken to hear of a treachery closer to our hearts, one involving alleged subversive activities. This particular atrocity involves not only treachery and alleged deceit, but also implications reaching to the top as well.

Associational guilt can be tough. Honesty is pure and simple, but also known to be shaded and even unfortunately jaded.

This date will go down like many dark days of historical significance.

But of the peace that comes after the passing of the gloom and the storm? I hope it will be honored with maintaining decorum and dignity. Desire of deceit must have its own glass ceiling that shall not be broken.

This will pass, it will make us stronger and yes one day all involved will see the errors of their way.

I stand looking out of my room with a view and see pain in many forms on a multitude of faces. I also see newer faces, nameless currently, but nonetheless still watching to see how we hold court. Is a Kangaroo court part of the family of Apolyton? I think not.

We hold our members to a certain level of accountability and when that is broken or not adhered to then a measured response must be taken.

Is the compilation of data and pixels worth the heartache and pain many feel?

I hope not.

Please head toward the peace in the valley. Get your rest, drink you drink and be well my fellow poly members.
Yesterday closed on a fallen curtain. Today no lights appeared to illuminate your path and know this for sure, tomorrow will bring the rain to wash away the pain.

A Room With a View Chapter Twenty Two

Finally we have Christmas vacation, a brief respite of sorts from the toils of life. It is December 23, 2005. I am playing Civilization from Call To Power, Conquests from the Third generation and of course CIV IV which is nothing short of awesome!

I am also posting on my absolute favorite website, Apolyton! I don’t say this as a kiss up but more of a small somewhat insignificant gesture to thank Markos and Dan for all their efforts and dreams. The staff of course gets much-deserved thanks and well, for their love as well I would presume in doing this deed of servitude.

It is Christmas and well, I am a Christian, not perfect just forgiven. I am celebrating my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s birthday on the 25th of the month I have seen all the hoopla concerning Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays being said. I kind of snicker when people get so upset at celebrating Christmas, for some don’t believe in God, Christ or eternity to Heaven and Hell. I snicker because they fight so hard to keep it quiet, when saying Happy Holidays is actually a derivative of saying Happy Holy-days.

I am grateful we can come, chat and discourse on this without fear of severe retribution.

I am celebrating this evening with my sweetheart of over 20 years and my two grandsons, one 3 years almost and the other working on 2 months. I get to be loved by them, ranging from true love of my sweetheart to Ethan the youngest that simply smiles and contorts and makes me melt! Then we have Cameron who is almost three. He is just too precious for my words to describe. I’m his Papa and he hugs and kisses me and makes my world all better. The children are going out, the children being the babies’ parents, to have some quality time while we have the babies.

Our two children bless me. My stepchildren under law, but in the land of heart, no such division applies. Our daughter is a Physicians Assistant who has a practice about an hour away, we love and respect her decision to be a medical professional. Our son is a deputy sheriff here. This past week he got certified along with other senior members of the department with a tasergun, 5,000 volts to subdue a subject with. He has been with this department over 5 years. He is the youngest member of the SWAT Team and loves what he is doing. I see him on patrol and pray for his safety. Its not all police lights and sirens and catching bad guys you know. 3 weeks or so ago 1 hour from getting off nightshift he had to go to do CPR on a child of 6 months. The baby died and it was a tragedy for all involved.

I share this because despite all the differences with the Apolyton community or the World at large, Life is precious and I hope you and your have a special time of family get together, if you don’t have family I hope you have friends. Maybe your choose to be alone, which I had to do for many years, I made it through and hope you do as well.

Will you take time to ponder the universe and the happenings of individuals as they scurry about? Maybe, take time to stop a person along the pathways of life and just say and hopefully mean, have joyous safe and prosperous New Year and between now and then, tell them to have a very Merry Christmas.

I am Grandpa Troll, sinner, failure of many deeds and simplistic tasks in life. I am no one to judge, bear or harbor anger against anyone. I am simply sharing that a warmth in my heart helps more often have a tender spirit with my fellow man.

Standing in a Room with a View, I see I can try to make a difference in a life of someone I do not yet know.

I have achieved what one might be seen in most social circles as a behind the scene affirmation, a slight nudge as one passes with a nod only known by the few of the inner circle.

One does a business transaction that is a windfall it is quietly appreciated amongst the gathering masses but championed behind closed doors.

I stand now behind a smoke colored sliding glass that separates me from my colleagues but still I can observe and make my move up the corporate ladder of success of this organization. I landed a big deal and it means something to me and not to a lot of others although they have all profited a small amount in some way, shape or form by my success.

I do not market for a penance without any significant return. No, I market and promote so as we all gain fame, fortune and family through the jostling of data, transmittal of secretive information to rule our worlds we dwell within.

I feel at home here at Apolyton, Inc .

I enjoy the hectic pace at playing the game of games and hearing of the comings and goings of the multitudes.

I enjoy inquisitive misguided steps seeking advice and being able to offer such. I then seek to rid my heart and soul of the burden of a tough day in the salt mines and daily grinds of the mill No.5 located in Real-Life Inc.

But I did nothing on my own certainly I intended success but only after a time of small investments did such dividends come full return.

I had wise counsel and a small team of headhunters who advised me of strategies and techniques for success.

I had offshore accounts in the Island shaped Country of Australia where many a friend calls home.

Canada with her Great White North gave me a safe landing zone when I took off.

Are not the simple joys in life accomplishing something a reward in and of itself?

I now humbly bow and seek further service to the land known as Apolyton.

I conclude this installment with a shared bit of knowledge that Apolyton has been my personal confidant where I have been able to escape and rule my own world in this universe and while portals come and for unknown reasons Black Holes suck up one after another through time lost. This traveler has gotten his statement in and it has yielded a windfall of time and energies vested.

Until nest we speak of the secretive society in this corporate setting, I am Grandpa Troll, standing, in a Room With A View.

A Room With A View-Chapter Twenty-Four-Gramps needs your Vote!!

People want different things in life and for a varying wide-ranging desire to be fulfilled.

People run for political office to serve themselves, to serve others or to simply give back to the community they reside in.

Some folks want to be members of clubs, organizations or cults. The reasons vary and come under scrutiny by naysayer and critics alike.

I want something and have toyed with my motivations and have decided to campaign and get my reasons out in the open.

I want to be in Apolyton Hall of Fame.

I asked myself why do I want this and why do I deserve this.

I will give you the why I want this answer: Because I love Apolyton. I want to be apart of the community that I hold so dearly to my heart. I spend more time here than any other website. I am a very active participant in many forums, from Call To Power Super League and Call To Power Multiplayer because I want to keep this game alive and help generate new and also renewed interest. I have learned much and learned to do some scenario making.

I am also involved in Civilization III Conquests Demo gaming, succession games and a wide variety of PBEM’s. I did a small amount of writing as I enjoy but would not qualify myself as an expert simply and enthusiast.

I also have been heavy into CIV IV PBEMing, CIV IV Succession games a little writing and eagerly await our newest Demo game.

I also enjoy expressing myself by attachments and leaving laughter on the hearts of those that read my responses.

I support Apolyton through many venues, mentioned above the various games I am involved in and sub forums. I also am a Plus Member because I believe in Apolyton and want to support its financial health. I have also grown to love the diversity and cultural cross blend, which is welcomed here.

I am excited to be a member at Apolycon06 to meet the experts and meet the owners and promoters of this event.

I would also address my post count. I have heard and agree with a lot of what people say about posts counts but would offer this thought to ponder. I do post a lot. I do post “turn sent” and yes what I post most of the time does not resolve a heart wrenching technical issue for game play or connectivity issue. Nor does it solve world peace, social ills or medical breakthroughs. It does however help folks become involved in gaming of this wonderful TBS known as Civilization and the dreaded One More Turn Syndrome !

I would say if I have any contributions it would be in trying to do my part to keep this community focused on game play, On Fun and fellowship of meeting someone outside your people group or even comfort zone.

I enjoy posting in Off Topic and enjoy yanking the occasional chain and yes often skirting perhaps and off-color joke meant as humor but sometimes unintentional offense of which I do apologize.

I would ask you to consider me in voting for I would be someone who would walk u to the podium and shout Yahoo and mean it from my soul to be honored this way, be a permanent part of this wonderful community I call home.

I stand in the window, of a Room With A View and ask the masses that I serve to consider someone who would be honored in serving this stewardship role.

I would be as I am now, a good will ambassador to this community known as Apolyton and to this gaming frenzy known as Civilization.
