looking back on the past 6 years of my membership here, i realise that a lot has come and gone.

i joined when i was looking for players to join me in aciv2 MP game after i bought the Civ2 Gold MPE.

I met so many wonderful folks i stayed and chatted.

Through the last 6 years, i have survived the following.

    1, Marriage break up
2, Meningococcal Infection (2 weeks in hospital , 3 months rehab)
3, Motor bike Crash (4 weeks in hospital, still rehbilitating 2 years later)
    4, Serious Depression Breakdown.

So i hav ecome and gone through the forums of Poly and as a whole really enjoyed myself here.

The forums have seen me at my worst and my best. Seen me though , many a reltionship breakup too.

But now, i am feeling good, got a relationship that has lastd nearly 12 months (long time for me) and a promotion into a new job.

All the while posters at poly have come and gone, but many i feel have become friends.

Hope Granpa dont mind my adding my own View from a Window here

A Room With A View Chapter Seven

I have been a lurking in the OT and having fun reading posting habits of many educated and sometimes spirited folks. I have to tell you, although sometimes humor is not readily acceptable by all unless it is blatantly abusive maybe we can accept it for what it is meant to be.

That being said, I continue on with people who may or may not have blatantly but have however tickled my funny bone. I have to say I am amused by some of Ted Strikers comments. Humor aside, I don’t know his religious, political or Poly stance or even economic standing, I just know one thing about Ted Striker, “I’d Hit It” Wait, I don’t mean I would hit on Ted I mean he has a talent to put the punch on the head when needed. Well, his wit and humor have for a long time been a source of a chuckle to me and after a hard day I enjoy watching some of his posts appear. I don’t drink anymore, but I gladly hoist a cold beverage and say, “Sir, this one is for you and your wit.” I hereby advise you that you have made me grin and I would dare say many more. Maybe the humor isn’t always on color versus off color but it does bring smiles instead of hate to an otherwise cruel world we are apart of. Thank you for contributing to this Grandpa’s evening readings and unwinding!

Ok, I am a happily married man of over 20 years and have to say yes I have been occasionally drawn to Hot or Not series and my hat goes off to a non babe Babe thread..hmm..not sure how that got by maybe Bill Clinton defended what is is? Thanks to Self Biased I believe I have found a nice view (standing back in the shadows) from a window with a view. I thought after all the images he posted, although many creatures were not of my personal taste in what makes a woman beautiful several were of the “able to eat crackers in my bed if I weren’t married category”, he found a very beautiful gem of a sweetheart he depicted in a picture.

I have enjoyed Ben Kenobi’s postings. He seems to be very level headed and I wish him well on his journey of seeking happiness, even though it is right where his heart knows it is.

I wonder sometimes about Lancer. If I remember correctly, he was once a Call To Power Player. He is sometimes amusing often entertaining. The least he is is opinionated which is a far cry better than standing behind a cloak and spouting off.

I share a few of these people here because they stand out among many as being unique and talented in attracting ones attention that is not necessarily a “groupie” of theirs and you folks know what I mean. Like a pack of dogs or a school of sharks, forums often tend to have a select small group that sticks together.

I feel that for the many failures I have to measure up as a human being, I count it a curse to first look upon a person’s exterior to rush a judgment out and stamp “They don’t fit” but instead wish I could build upon the example of finding good in a person. I read It takes seventeen muscles to smile and forty-three to frown. ~Author Unknown.

Think about it if your day was set upon making people smile or at least trying to make them feel good about themselves.

            Ok

              Interesting read.

Though the way I understood "I'd hit it" is much like "I'd tap it" rather than "I'd hit on her..." It's much raunchier but I could be wrong.

And the comments on Lancer seemed quite generic and sanitised especially for a poster with as many colourful experiences and bannings-> IE: fued with ALexander's Horse over the ummm... 'Karen Mills' house? (can't remember the name) 'apolyton' charity organization.

But then again, I think that went on before your OT time, so ignorance of that can be excused... anyways I sympathise- when I wrote the Apolyton 100 I had to wrack my brain with some people to figure out something to say about them. It's very challenging to be both entertaining and informative.

*Edit: Fixed "Karen Mills" house not "Kim Daniels"

A Room With A View Chapter Eight

Do you remember what the world was like before September 11, 2001?

Do you remember just after September 11, 2001?

As an American I remember how sad I felt for what was going on and thinking about how we helped as a government create some of the events leading up to the attacks.

Then I began contemplating last year when I got to not really know but actually do some chatting with Bunny Gurls better half, chegitz Guevara during the onslaught of nature’s wrath from the bowels of the sea known as Hurricanes or Cyclones.

We chatted and posted and for a short time I felt something of a kindred spirit as we talked about our lives and the impact we may or may not have to endure. I have been through too many (One being a figure for too many) Hurricanes and it is awesome what the power of water can do destructively.

I now reflect on a time when I was able to go to Honduras on 2 different occasions to do Missions work for my Lord Jesus Christ. We built churches and shared the gospel as well as health clinics and bible study. I am here to tell you I am blessed.

This brings me slow motion as I stand with shade slightly pulled, in my room with a view, of Apolyton and its community. What goes through many people’s hearts when tragedy strikes the world?

The Tsunamis were far off for many but closer for a few.

How about personal when a family member is stricken or lost? Me I almost lost my wife to a serious infection some 5 years ago and then a little later my Mother was called home.

I wonder under the tough abrasive persona or frail egos that often get upset, what is actually going on? Do we have a caring community?

What if we lived in a ‘Poly Box? You know, like one of them rich college experiments with the top cut off to view the rats scrambling for food?

What if I had bread but no meat or peanut butter? I neither had water nor blankets. I loathed someone from ‘Poly but they had heat and winter was coming on. How would the world according to ‘Poly change?

It is a shame we could not take the research used in finding whether a fly can survive in –50-degree weather or the funds to get reelected as President and help someone out.

What if instead of having options we had no options? We had to get along despite our differences (or even indifferences) to merely survive?

I wish we could do that, stop attacking because of intolerance or varying lifestyles. Stop harassing because we don’t fit in the realm of ones acceptable persona.

                I will be back soon

Well, the Karen Mills thread was a healing experience, it was apolyton serving the greater community.

I just threw the AH thing in there for entertainment value, since the whole argument was, in my eyes, a rather bizarre one.

A Room With A View Chapter Nine

Soon I shall be climbing into a new room, higher in the Castle Apolytonia. I love Apolyton and am starting to get to know the veterans, the newer crowd, the hierarchy way of thinking and even the prima donnas. Yes believe it or not we have some. Why speaking of prima –donnas and hierarchy, and in touching on was my friend Rasputin stated in his post, a laugh at what was IMHO, a Mod with a throbbing bobbin and I was his sparrow..Lol..heres what happened:

I forget the poster, but whoever it was had an Australian heritage. Now I get along with most everyone from Australia, as far as I know. I had recently seen the American Comedy “Dumb & Dumber” with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Not an Oscar performance but still funny. Anyway, Jim is a Limo driver and sees a beautiful and absolutely gorgeous woman on a corner standing. He slides from the driver seat to the rear and then eases the window down and says “Excuse me my driver seems to be lost, which way is and she answered the directions. Jim beams up that’s a lovely accent, where you from? She states “Austria” and what he said, I mimicked. He said “Austria? Throw another shrimp on da bar bee mate, Gday” I then asked this poster if they had been “Outback” or do all Australians act like Mic Dundee. Anyhow, Yin26 took me to task for insulting Australian Heritage. I mean, most every week someone is poking fun at Americans and most of the time justified. Anyhow, he threatened to have me sent to Mingapulco, I retaliated with him being from Korea and not understanding American humor and then here he goes again. It worked out but man he got anal. But being a Mod he was right.

Then one time I told a joke I had heard, a young American man was a shelf stocker at a grocery store near the Canadian Border. I have to tell you my Dads Mother is an Arsenault from Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, well she’s deceased but anyway, this young man encountered an irate Canadian customer that only wanted to buy half a watermelon and after pleading the young man went back to the managers office and burst out laughing, to which the manager stated, what’s so funny?” The young man said, “Them Canadians are so stupid, Canada aint got nothing but Whores and Hockey Players” to which the manager stood, livid stated his wife was from Canada, staring at the young lad as he replied, “What team does she play for sir?”

Ok I thought it was humorous but again was corrected.

My point is I really didn’t think either one was terrible but indeed at the time my Deity Status was not even a distant drum beating.

I say now and agree with Rasputin, we should smile at once made us angry and realize, as a thousand drops of rain have fallen, these too pass away.

I do respect the Mods and yes they have a hard time. Why sometimes even they may get trigger-happy.

Do I love Apolyton? The answer is of course I do. Do I post a lot? The answer is heck yeah. Do my posts cure cancer, uncover easy money making pyramids or solve world peace? Not a chance. Do I enjoy attachments? Yes and there is a reason, which I shall delve into next installment of

again very few aussies have a heritage of living in the outback .... 95% of all australians born and raised in urban citys.. so make fun of mick dundee as he is more american than australian.

Yeah I was really not, in my heart, making fun of anyone from Australia

I do however enjoy having a good barb and ribbing fest, but normally I do not cross the line, I teeter and even lean across but rarely cross

But I did spend some time in the Gulag Mingapulco and everyday had to polish the boots of this man whom now when I log into Apolyton, I fall prostrate and honor his very presence, a low barely audible ming! ming! ming! chant rings in my head as if an implant

                            Ok Im all better now

A Room With A View Chapter Ten

I have been asked, sometimes nicely and sometimes told in pure ugly fashion people’s opinions of attachments. I want to share why I enjoy attachments. I love writing, not the best by far; grammar and correct proper etiquette go right out the window when ya get old Gramps going off on a storyline.

I enjoy googlizing topics and save them, along with Paint Shop Pro7, which I am still learning, I have me some good-natured fun. I don’t really mean harm, I had a few images removed from Apolyton, no not nudity but what was considered inappropriate. Heck, I even removed some when I felt God stirring in my heart I was wrong.

I love to make people smile and sometimes-even say “What the heck was he thinking?

I have hundreds up to the 1,000 mark on images on my HD and several sites to load some from should I desire more plus saving what else I like from other posters. I think a picture is worth a thousand words and sometimes I enjoy invoking a response. I could ask a direct question” Do you like the duck picture?” Or I could ask an open-ended question, “What do you think about the duck picture?”

I do this sometimes to open a line of dialogue in a thread.

My favorite things to do are to find pictures of a particular thread I am posting in and save a bunch to add to my posts.

I have been asked why do I put one on every post and the reason is because I can and it is an option. I think expanding ones mind and horizon are what we all should do and by searching for posts I actually learn about history and current events, why you could even call me cultured, well not really still have a time with the commode and passing gas in public!

I don’t attach to annoy nor do I try to offend. I simply attach because it is I expressing myself through picture or captured images.

So I keep them to what is the limit and have some fun and I think it adds to the life of a thread.

I don’t think they are a hindrance except if you have a trailer park dialup then most probably you would have a time loading the pages anyway.

I enjoy other posters images, as previously stated, even Self-Biased and he had some very beautiful images to view. I like the scenery pictures as well. I have my grandson featured because he is my heartbeat for he is the hope of a new tomorrow.

I stand in the window of Apolyton’s Castle
