i bought the game but didnt play it too much. the tech tree was too big and the game too long. galciv 2 seems much more enjoyable even wen the desighner tried to mak it unenjoyable for this performance beta. im gonna spend hours on this game just lik i did on civ3. that game sucked up my life for months!!!

Remember, Brad has said himself that you aren't SUPPOSED to research much of the GalCiv tech tree, just what you need. A pity I never listened.

Sidenote: not only are Civ4 and Galciv2 coming out this year, but so is Space Empires 5. Whoo!

I been playing the game a lot ever since the expansion was released, that has reknewed my interest in the game.

To me the best part about Galciv is the simple game play that anyone can dive into. It takes a very long time for anyone to master the game. Being able to play on the hardest level and do well I mean.

Next thing is the Metaverse and the Empires. The socializing involved in the Metaverse Threads at SD forums are incredibly a good time. I belong to Star Fleet Empire, which is a spoof on Trek. Sort of a spin off of Galaxy Quest. I am Mr. Spook and the leader is JT Qwerk!

Galciv 2 will be a lot better in this regard as no Mods will ever be allowed for submissions. Many people used cheesy methods before and none will be allowed in the new game. Of course this is coming from a Galciv addict!

Speaking of Mods, be sure check out Icho Tolot Mods. He is working on a new one with all his Mods combined and with some cool new features. He is calling it "The Big Pack" featuring over 500 new items, techs, Improveements, Ships, Star Map replacement, New Star Bases, Invasion Tactics, new anomalies, New SB improvements, and a few surprises.

I hope its okay to talk about someone's Mods here. If not I will remove it, he needs a spokesmen!

Space Empires V is a totally different game then Galciv or Galciv 2 and should not be brought up in this thread.

I'm playing the GC2 beta. I am really looking forward to the final version of the game.

                Btw, Dan, don't be shy:

"Apolyton Civilization Site ( http://apolyton.net ) [ACS], the premiere online fansite for the Civilization computer strategy gaming series and its extended family"

It's OK to toot your own horn in a press release.

Soooo... the wink means you don't think ACS is "the premier" Civ site? How... dare... you.
