  • Jim Furyk just shot a 58 - lowest pro competitive round in history. Awesome. That's -12.

Which means that fantasy scoring will be extreeemely pathetic today.

    • Yeah, thought I might actually win a week, but we all know how that usually goes. And it did.
It wasn't my lowest week and dropped so I guess that's a morale victory.

      • Well done, Von

What a miserable week in scoring. Mad props to Furyk for shooting 58 even though it cocked up all the fantasy scoring.

Who's looking forward to the Olympic tournament this week?

        • My only interest is seeing the course they're using and if they tricked it up. I doubt I'll watch much of it.

          • If they televised the bribery and corruption part of the host selection process, I might watch that.

            • I'm sure it'll be on NBC, the Network for Bribery & Corruption.

                • To me, it's bizarre that some of the top golfers don't respect the Olympic tournament. Wouldn't this be the most unique and special prize?

Still, there are a few good names in the men's tournament: Bubba, Willett, Stenson, Rose, Kuchar, Reed, Fowler, Sergio. Grillo has also been in great form.

                  • It's the Zika thing. Most of the top names would play if not for that.

                    • Are they backing out of tournaments in Florida now that Zika is spreading there.
I think it was a convenient excuse for some of them.

                      • It seems money is the driving factor... The Zika excuse is just their way of saying we play to get paid.
Even some of the men players that are playing don't seem too excited about it. Unlike the women, who are either the best actresses in the world, or REALLY WANT TO PLAY.

But they're still happy to play for free in the Ryder Cup?

It can't be money. Hell, if you need the money, you're not a very good player to begin with...

I think it's a bit of a catch-22. They're not playing because there's no "prestige", but as long as they don't play, it won't build any prestige.

I think if the Olympics was a team event some of the golfers might have viewed it differently.

                              • Are they not finished yet with FIRST round of John Deere Classic? Or maybe just starting second round and Yahoo as usual is way behind? Oh right, it's by the Quad Cities where they've had lots of rain (and clouds which washed out the Perseids again this year).
