How? I don't know as I slept 9 to 3 in the afternoon today and didn't watch any football. What happened?

Shane Morris suffered a significant ankle injury in the third quarter. Was not taken out.

The injury was severely exacerbated on the following series. He literally had to be held upright by an offensive lineman. He waved to come out of the game. Was not taken out.

A few plays later, he suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit, and was visibly unsteady afterwards. Was STILL not taken out.

Was finally taken out a couple plays after that. (Note that Michigan trailed by 23 points at this juncture)

Gardner came in, had his helmet knocked off after scrambling for a first down.

Rather than put in the third-string QB for a play, or call timeout to allow Gardner to go back in, HE SENT MORRIS BACK INTO THE GAME. Visibly concussed, with a severe leg injury (turns out it is a severe high ankle sprain).

When the game was finally over, Morris went out on a cart. Hoke was not aware of that until the post-game press conference.

Elsewhere, Washington State seems to have vindicated their tough showing against Oregon, beating Utah at Utah. That's their biggest win in years. Ok, since they beat USC last year at USC. But that was the Lane Kiffin USC, so that hardly counts. NONETHELESS, a big win for the typically-hapless Cougs.

Stanford won another tough game against Washington. For whatever reason, the Huskies always seems to play Stanford tougher than anyone else. And then go on to lose to Oregon by double-digits.

Nebraska 45 - 14 Illinois. I have a week to savor being undefeated before Sparty kicks our asses next week.

In retrospect, I think Illinois was right to fire Ron Zook. They're still suffering embarrassing losses like this one, but at least they aren't talented enough anymore to expect better.
