White Sox fans are tired of baseball this year You're our Tigers fan, and nobody cares about the Red Sox here.
I like the trade as a White Sox fan. We get something useful for Peavy; not what I'd like, but certainly the best reasonable return we could've got. A high ceiling starting OF for the next 6 years, even if he has a low floor, is worth the shot versus the other possibilities (largely potential utility guys). The low prospects sound interesting also; the White Sox have the ability to turn throwers into pitchers, so the 100mph guy seems like a good flier to me.
I think it's a good trade for the Red Sox, also; Peavy's very good (look at his SIERA and comparables, for example). Injury is the question with him. When healthy he was excellent this year. They traded away a sell-high prospect and a bunch of nothing prospects for a #2 SP who will give them a solid rotation for the playoffs. That's exactly what they need; and they get a sandwich pick if he leaves after next year (since they can make a qualifying offer).
