Dodgers acquired RHP Carlos Marmol and cash considerations from the Cubs for RHP Matt Guerrier.

The cash considerations include international signing bonus slot No. 92, which is valued at $209,700. Marmol was designated for assignment by the Cubs last week after posting a 5.86 ERA and 32/21 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings this season, but the Dodgers will take him on as a reclamation project. Since the Cubs are paying for half his salary (and more if the Dodgers don't sign him this offseason and someone else does) and he's a FA this offseason, does it really make much sense for the Cubs?

It ain't like Guerrier is any better.

I mean, heck, the Dodgers just traded him for the International Draft money (as Marmol was sent down to the minors).

The cubs got ~$2MM out of the deal; I assume that was most of the point. The rest was irrelevant. Guerrier actually could be better - he was good not that long ago, who knows.
