Koyaanisqatsi -Running another draft (one which completed in 8 days, 2 hours, 18 minutes.....for 220 picks). Would like to be a more active participant in this one, but has over 200 PM's from one of the members of that draft, explaining how the rules could be rewritten in a easier to read/follow 100 page document.

I simply don't consider the D/ST draft speed to be a problem, aside from Slowwy-rage.
As I wrote in the draft thread:
I expect this draft to complete on Tuesday, August 28, about a week before the season starts.
We have five and a half rounds to do in the next six days to meet my expectation, which should be fine."You're the biggest user of hindsight that I've ever known. Your favorite team, in any sport, is the one that just won. If you were a woman, you'd likely be a slut." - Slowwhand, to Imran

Next year's IDP draft should start a week later IMHO.
The closer to the season it is, the better intel we have on the players.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

I think the reasonable thing to do is target one week before the season starts."You're the biggest user of hindsight that I've ever known. Your favorite team, in any sport, is the one that just won. If you were a woman, you'd likely be a slut." - Slowwhand, to Imran

The problem is, if we wait too long, Sloww might have another cardiac incident.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

All I asked for was that the draft order be released. I never said a word about starting the draft, but once it starts, GO.
Besides my chance of a "cardiac incident", I think I worry too much about people waiting on me. I need to have the same consideration as...some others.

Thank you.
What really bothers me the absolute most is that we wait on the same people over and over again. If we waited on all participants once, fine, but that's not the case.

I think some of the waiting is acceptable, as not all of our posters are able to post during work or even have regular work hours. Leaving lists is fine when you're a few picks away, but certainly there have been times where we ran through 14 picks in an eight hour span, and it's hard to leave a list that far out (and disadvantages you significantly, as you can't adjust to trends). I don't mind the 6-8 hour waits (particularly overnight or during the workday) - it's the 12+ hour waits that bother me (which we have only had one of in D/ST). If you're going to be more than 12 hours away, you do have an obligation to leave a list IMO.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

If they're spiting someone, they're spiting all. It backs everyone up and they may be here but give up waiting, which creates more time lost.
All addressed by lists, but you can't force people to leave a list.Last edited by SlowwHand; August 22, 2012, 16:05.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

I'm not worried, tense or concerned. I'm just not going to try as hard.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
