Exactly! That's exactly what they are. I'm glad you understand.

In IDP we once ripped through 8 picks in 1 hr 20 min. And only missed having 9 in the same time because of a too short list. Too bad DST was too busy farting around to learn from our good example.
Being a planner by profession and nature (Oh no, I say it again), I just can't wrap my head around not being able to comprise a list.
It's been admitted to me by more than one and I just can't grasp it.

I like to keep tabs on the flow of things, which can really change positional strategies. If you miss the top tier of a key position and there's a run, it can suck if you made your list too far in advance. That's especially true if you're drafting first or last. Screw up on the turnaround and you watch two rounds worth of talent go off the board before you can fix it. That said, I work at home, so I have web access pretty whenever I'm awake.
It was a fun draft. 220 picks in 8 days -- over 27/day. And we missed most of Sunday. Working on a 4-hour BAPAY, 8am-10pm, 7 days/week, we had a grand total of 3 BAPAYs -- and two of those were because Berz was out golfing and forgot to leave a list.
It helps having only 10 teams, all with committed managers. The more managers, the longer each round is, and the more likely occasional delays become.
It was also very enjoyable to be, well, not the commish. And not one person quit during the draft this year. (Wonder if those things are related...)
Now I'm free until one last live FFZ Yahoo draft. That'll be easy.
Apolyton's Grim Reaper2008, 2010 & 2011 RIP lest we forget... SG (2) and LaFayette -- Civ2 Succession Games Brothers-in-Arms
Trying to figure out what people are doing that is slowwing it down:
Jaguar - Busy in another draft...if you don't like it, complain to the commissioner of this one
snoopy369 - Changing diapers and dealing with 3 am feedings, priorities (has a detailed list on an Excel spreadsheet with variations and permutations but is unwilling to share with anyone else)
MRT144 - Has placed Auction bids on several players already taken wondering why no one else is bidding
Koyaanisqatsi -Running another draft (one which completed in 8 days, 2 hours, 18 minutes.....for 220 picks). Would like to be a more active participant in this one, but has over 200 PM's from one of the members of that draft, explaining how the rules could be rewritten in a easier to read/follow 100 page document.
Jonny - Hasn't realized draft has started, though it has reached round 11
Berz - Golfing, and in the true spirit of Civ that brought us here, "Just one more hole...Sloww won't mind"
OzzyKP - Playing Civ5...just one more turn....and posting a detailed analysis of why Civ5 is the greatest civ yet. Everyone that has read it agrees with him 100%, and if you don't believe me, you can ask both of them yourself.
Spaced Cowboy - Like all those from Texas, joins drafts with no intention of actually paying attention or making a list, someone will pick for him if he doesn't
flash9286 - Offers to accept any and all lists from the group in order to help keep it moving, and then promptly goes offline
joncha - Has posted each of his picks within 30 seconds of the person before him picking, but has posted them on Eventis
Al B. Sure - Searching for GIF's, because he knows how much everyone (especially Sloww) likes to see them. When not searching, researching other players picks in order to show why they shouldn't have picked them based on obscure stats that he will find again if asked, it just might take him a while to find them again (and then he will post the pick he has had ready for days).
Slowwhand - Planning how to make sure he gets last again in both drafts next year in order to help keep the draft moving, due to him being able to post two consecutive picks every time he picks.
The above post is not intended to harm, defame or criticize anyone else (well maybe once or twice) and is just an attempt at humour. The poster takes no responsibility for any offense taken
