  • Eisen ran a 6.25 second 40, by the way.

    • I would mock Eisen, but it's probably about what I would run these days.
Plus, he's being a good sport, so props to him.

      • Realistically, Eisen could probably shave a half second or more off his time by not wearing a suit and tie and coming out of the starting block much lower and with a forward lean instead of high as hell like he does. The 40 is short enough that acceleration is huge and Eisen didn't do himself any favors by coming out the block high.

Take a look at Percy Harvin two years back... this video is good because it shows him in slow motion:

Eisen would do a lot better if he stayed low. He was standing up full height as soon as he came out of the block.

        • Well, they've extended the deadline by 24 hours. Still think it will take a while to get done and union will probably have to decertify first.

          • Minnesota isn't even going to resign Tarvaris Jackson. They are screwed at QB.

            • They don't even need a QB. Eliminate the middle man by snapping the ball directly to Peterson.

They'll probably draft someone or make a move in free agency but...

One of the reasons Jackson was not retained is Vikings coach Leslie Frazier and his new offensive staff think second-year quarterback Joe Webb has a good future.

New offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave has been impressed with Webb after spending a lot of time studying film of the rookie quarterback's limited performances last season.
Let's not forget Webb was drafted to be a WR though...

His two starts weren't bad at all for a rookie QB and were better than what Favre was doing for the most part... 17/26 195, 20/32 145 with 1 INT. It was short dumps but he was at least well above 60% completion % which is a positive.

                • One thing I got to give credit to Tarvaris Jackson for, though. He was a great sport about the whole Brett Favre thing. He accepted his ever-changing role as each Favre saga played out no matter what it was or seemed like it was going to be, always said the right things, and did his job. A lot of other guys would have been chaffing and chomping at the bit in his situation.

                  • HOLY ****!!!!!!

The Giants’ career leading rusher retired after the 2006 season and started a broadcasting career, which has fizzled.

Tiki Barber has filed for reinstatement to the N.F.L. — four years after he retired — the league confirmed on Tuesday.

                    TIKI!!!!!

Barber, 35, retired after the 2006 season after 10 seasons with the Giants, who still retain his rights. But they said they would release him as soon as a new collective bargaining agreement was reached.

“We wish Tiki nothing but the best, and when we are able to make the transaction, we will release him from our reserve/retired list,” the Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said in a statement.
                    still, TIKI!!!!!

                        • Tiki could actually do well in a timeshare somewhere.

Look, his twin brother is still going at it. Granted, a CB doesn't get hit like a RB does but this whole RB's consistently falling off cliffs in their early 30's... is it really about age or about the continual wear and tear? We see Ricky Williams is still going pretty strong (673 yards last season) at 33, no doubt helped by a few years off from the game. Priest Holmes came back at 34 but his tenure was pretty short but that was only because he aggravated his spinal injury.

I don't know. If it's less about age and more about 10 years of getting hit... then the past 4 years of recovery might do Tiki a lot of good.

Tiki retired too soon. That much is certain. He still had 2-3 years in him easily. Hell, his first few years, his workload was pretty light as well since he wasn't a full-time starter. I think Tiki can handle the NFL still.

A guy who spent his first several years in the league as a backup so he had less wear and tear... retired while he was still in his prime... has a twin who is still going strong... and he has had 4 years to repair his body... yeah. I don't see why he would be doubted. Running through this checklist, it's a perfect storm for Tiki.

                          • I was waiting for you to post, Alby. Interesting news.

Could be he'll be his old self, so long as he has a lighter workload (like LT was the first 10-12 games this year).
Could be he'll be the next Ahman Green.

I do agree that he retired too early. He was a big favorite of mine, especially once he learned how to hang onto the ball.

                            • Since everyone and their mother is now speculating that he'll join his (superior) brother on my team, I feel the need to weigh in.

I'm OK with Tiki strapping on the red and pewter as long as it doesn't come at Cadillac's expense. Cadillac's bled, sweated and been through hell and back for us, and still has much to offer us - he's earned the right to stay if he wants to. If Tiki signs on to be a three-headed monster with Blount and Cadillac, or to stand in for Cadillac because Cadillac chose on his own to leave for what he perceives as greener pastures, then fine. But if Dominik and Morris dump Cadillac for Tiki, I won't be happy.

Tiki would be a fantastic 3rd down back and security blanket for Josh Freeman. We're talking a guy who for a while was the Giants all-time leading receiver.
