  • Illini defense is actually pretty good. Statistically speaking, they were top 20 in most categories before today's game.

Crazy facts shamelessly stolen from ESPN.com:

Illinois and Michigan combined for 132 points. In the three other Big Ten games that kicked off at noon ET (Iowa-Indiana, Minnesota-Michigan State, Wisconsin-Purdue), there were a combined 117 points scored.

In its last two games, the Wolverines have allowed 106 points. When they won the 1997 national title, the Wolverines allowed 114 points in 12 games.

The last three times Michigan and Illinois have met in men's basketball, the two teams did not combine for as many points as the 132 scored on Saturday.

Last week, Michigan allowed 41 points to Penn State. On Saturday, Illinois had 45 points at the end of regulation. Michigan, which has been playing football since 1879, has now allowed at least 40 points in consecutive weeks for the first time in program history.

    • Temple is in control 28-10 over Kent State.

I can't believe it. This Gerardi kid has thrown for 368 yards so far! A Temple QB throwing for 300+ yards in a game?! Al Golden has always been run run run at Temple. This really bodes well for TU's future.

I should note, however, that my previous remark about the Illini D being pretty good is in no way, shape, or form, any comment on the anticipated performance of Michigan's offense against the Buckeye D.

I fully expect the Fighting Sweater Vests to beat us by 30, minimum.

It'll be closer than that. I have a feeling Michigan will be pumped up to play with Denard this year.

          • Yeah, but how long will he last against that defense? Not long before a knee or ankle injury or mild concussion or something along those lines.

            • Oregon is up only 18-6 over the Huskies at halftime. If you look at the stadium, it feels as if the Ducks are losing...

              • If they're not scoring 60, Autzen just isn't happy.

LSU hanging tough with the Tide. A Tiger win here would open the door to TCU or BSU, provided the Tide wins the Iron Bowl...

                • Oregon up 46-16 midway through the 4th quarter. One more TD and they'll beat the spread, if Washington doesn't score again (which seems unlikely, given their past few offensive drives).

It's more the fact that the first quarter was scoreless. Made the crowd nervous...

                      • 53-16 final. Another slow start for the Ducks, and they racked up 107 penalty yards but still beat the Huskies by 37.

However, there was a cost: Back-up QB Nate Costa appears to have blown out his knee again, a knee on which he's had surgery twice already.

TCU was favored by 4 1/2. Do you think they might be on a mission?
