    • If Boise wins the Rose Bowl this year, they definitely should be the heavy favorite for the NC game next year.

If Boise loses the Rose Bowl this year, BSU fans must shut up forever.

it at least shows they have what it takes to compete with the big boys if not outright win it every time they've been asked to.

They've proved themselves in bowl games and thats enough for me.
Just like Utah couldn't join a BCS conference? I don't really care what their excuse for not doing so is. The bottom line remains that as long as they tiptoe through cupcake schedules, they reap what they sow. The bull**** about BCS teams being afraid to play them is just that. They seem to have no problem getting those 1-2 a year on the schedule when they want to.

Proving themselves with a month to prepare for a one-off shot? You're easy.

I dont think a month off helps as evidenced by Ohio State in title games. You don't care about facts. Especially how joining a conference isn't an easy process and involves a lot more than Boise State just wanting it so bad. Of course, I don't expect you to understand considering you're just a typical SEC homer that doesn't know anything about football outside of the SEC.

            • Settle down, princess. Nobody said joining a BCS conference was an easy process. Utah, South Florida and others have managed it, though. Not easy isn't the same as impossible. Similarly, if the conference schedule is holding them back, going independent might deserve consideration. Find as many BCS teams as will play them, and backfill the rest with the same creampuffs they play in conference now (or other creampuffs, won't really matter). At the very least, they could use their entire OOC schedule to play the best teams possible. There are 60 or so BCS teams out there. Not being able to find four that will play them is laughable. Instead, BSU filled the other two spots with Toledo and Wyoming. Last year, they supplemented the Oregon game with Miami (OH), Bowling Green, Tulsa and UC-Davis. They've played six ranked (at the time, to be generous to BSU) teams in the last four years, and two of those were TCU in a bowl. Until they show that they can beat good teams consistently (week after week, not once or twice a year), they're going to find themselves questioned, no matter how good they are. I guess it's easier to waltz through the WAC, then cry about how nobody respects you.

Not if your rankings are "who is the better team". As the pollsters really don't have strict guidelines to go by, that view of things is easily acceptable.

On the contrary, they do. AP voters are specifically instructed to "pay attention to head-to-head results."

As much as I love Boris, I'm with Tex on this one, if only because, last season, Oregon both lost to Boise State and lost the Rose Bowl.

I'm surprised you missed the point like he did. It wasn't about Oregon vs. Boise, it was about the non-stop kvetching by BSU fans, every week, that they're simply entitled to a slot in the National Championship game. They know full well what to expect with the BCS rankings and why BSU isn't going to be in the top two unless other teams falter, but every week it's the same chorus of BCS bias, a rigged system, they could beat anyone if given the chance to play them, blah blah blah. They may be right, but that doesn't make the whining any less annoying. In fact, it cheeses me off more because it reflects poorly on the Broncos, a great team that doesn't engage in that sort of *****ing themselves. Oregon fans haven't been spamming the internet with constant complaints about their standings this year--quite the opposite, we've been thrilled each week, thankful for each move up the rankings.

So, given all that, should the Broncos play in the Rose Bowl (which seems the most likely case atm), and they happen to lose, then I hope the obnoxious fans slink away forevermore, never to darken NCAA football discussions again.
