WC, does it mean World Cup or World Championship?
Hockey World Cup means something, World Championship is like a European midget tournament."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

It's not a regular thing, but yes.
Canada is the defending champion (2004). This way we're always the World Cup champion, as it doesn't happen anymore.
Unlike its International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF)-sanctioned counterpart, the annual World Ice Hockey Championships, the World Cup of Hockey is organized by the National Hockey League (NHL). As such, the games are played under NHL rules and not those of the IIHF. The World Cup of Hockey also occurs outside of the hockey season, allowing for all the best players in the world to be available, unlike the World Championships, which overlaps with the Stanley Cup playoffs."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. None of the three would rank in the top 15 goalies in the league on any list
Its actually a little sad how 3rd tier the Canadian team is--- hell I would have thought a few more of the almost-Olympians might have wanted a kick at thisYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Czechs
Canada
Referees
My congrats to Czechs anyway.
If we beat Finland tonight (that will be our 25th victory in a row at WC and a new world record (USSR holds previous record of 24 wins), then welcome to the Russia-Canada 1/4th again. Ironic, isn't it?

And yet, still no one cares.
Russia is the only country that even sends a 1st string team to this tournament. The wins are meaningless to anyone who understands hockey."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I have spent the last two lunches with avid hockey fans. We discussed the two NHL series at length . The worlds did not even arise as a topic.
Based on the teams the respective teams sent, Russia should be embarrassed if this is anything other than a clear win for them. You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

No one cares. I don't see how you can say it any other way.
Look at the standings.
Do you honestly think the current standings correspond to how good a hockey country is?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

The first period of Russia-Finland, as well as Czech Rep - Canada game was a real warfare and a top class hockey. The rest is bullsh!t.
