It's been a long time. The funny thing is, when I was looking up the respective bowl records of the conferences there were some years where 7 or more big ten teams went to bowl games. It was ridiculous.

Yep... It was ridiculous. But we all know that the bowl games aren't about deserving teams. They are about money, and the Big 10 teams do travel well. Why pick some smaller school with a better record and who is more deserving when you can take a Big 10 schoold that will bring in the the Alum and pump a lot of money into the local economy.

Using the results of 12 games is a laughably inadequate proxy for program quality over a 73-year period. Total number of national championships is a much better proxy and Nebraska clearly outclasses Texas based on that metric.

None, I think; Nebraska didn't play Texas in 1997 and Texas didn't play Nebraska in 2005. Nebraska and Texas were in different conferences before that, so it's unlikely they played during one of their national championship seasons.
