Seems expensive to me, though I'm confused as to why Dan "I'm playing Madden in real life" Snyder didn't outbid it.

From what I read, the Broncos didn't like Campbell, so Snyder couldn't really outbid it.

The Jeff George - Cutler comparison is pretty accurate. I know Chicago fans like having a QB onboard, but I wish it wasn't Cutler. I think you're going to be short-sheeted in the long run.

We'll see. Did they overpay? Probably -- assuming those draft picks would have well-used. But that was the market price, and at least they made a decision and went with it.

They weren't going to go anywhere standing pat. At least making an effort is a good thing.

According to Jerry, Orton was the deal maker.

I think part of this—and I’m speaking from my perspective, I’m not speaking for Denver—but I feel that what really facilitated this trade was that Kyle was part of it. I think the draft compensation, given what I was to understand, was very similar with other teams. But they like Kyle Orton, and I think that was part of it, and I can see why they like Kyle.

Up until his injury, Orton played respectably well and didn't turn the ball over. Orton will get a good O-Line that allowed very few sacks last year and three very nice passing weapons. There's a lot of chatter that the Broncos will pursue Mark Sanchez, but I think the two first rounders are better invested on defense.

                  Wow

The Broncoes ended up with one Hell of a deal for a QB who publically wanted out. Two 1sts, a 3rd, and Kyle Orton as a caretaker QB (assuming they take a rookie this draft), for Cutler and a 5th? Damn!

The people of Chicago remain in shock, happy but wary.

At least the Bears can't screw up their first round selection again until 2011...

In listening to the local sports radio... It's far more happy and thrilled with very few being wary.
You add on the Pace signing, and half the callers are predicting a Super Bowl.

Apparently one of the rumors involved Washington giving up Jason Campbell and draft picks to the Broncos. When Campbell was told of the trade rumors, he actually... get this... acted like an adult and shrugged his shoulders.

                        Amazing!

They may want to upgrade the defense which looked fairly poor last year.

Yeah, the Bears record on 1st round picks recently has been awful. At least we won't be paying big bucks for first rounders that end up sucking. (GOD, the NFL really has to fix that)
When the number 1 draft picks signs for as much if not more than the best player in the league, something is wrong

I'm excited, but cautious. I wish Kyle the best of luck and hope he flourishes in Denver where the air is thiner so he might be able to throw the ball a bit farther, and maybe move a bit faster.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Ah, the Bears Kool-Aid drinkers... Looks like I'm the wary one.

I think Super Bowl talk is pretty silly at this point. Assuming the Bears' offense is noticeably improved (which is not a lock), the defense will benefit from spending less time on the field. And I do expect Matt Forte to benefit from seeing fewer stacked-box defenses and having a road-grader like Pace in front of him. In fact, I think Forte is now a first-round lock in FF.

The NFL has to fix it? Why the NFL? It's the league's fault that some doofus is making bad picks?
