NFL - Are You Ready For Some Football?! - The Offseason
The ads SUCKED, by and large. The Doritos ads sucked, the beer ads sucked, talking baby ads suck by definition; a nearly uninterrupted string of suck, from start to finish. The only high points, ad wise, were the Hulu brain-melting ad (funny as ****), and the careerbuilder.com ad (funny as hell).
You are nuts.
The Boss tore that **** up.
He tore it up so much, it almost made me fall asleep . Then again, as stated before, I consider the "Boss" to be extremely overrated and don't like anything by him.

IIRC it was also revealed that Warner has the top 3 individual games for passing yards.
Another interesting fact: the two teams combined for a grand total of 91 rushing yards.
The huge number of penalties, the 14-point swing at halftime, at least 4 personal fouls... This was a game that turned on both mental and physical mistakes. It was great theater, but it was hardly great football (the final minutes excepted). Fully half the teams in the league were sitting at home thinking, 'hell, we can play that good.'
This is parity in the NFL.

That's fine, as long as you know that no one agrees with you on anything, ever.
If you believe the Cardinals were the second-best team this year, then I'd love to hear your opinion.
They may have been. But as for the 2 teams playing on Sunday night, the Cardinals, despite losing, were the better team. Take out either the one freak play, or a horrible call for roughing the passer, and the cards win. Cards D sucked early game but they adjusted and by a miracle the Steelers pulled it off.
As for 2nd best overall, plenty of teams could've had that spot this past year.
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Yeah, forget the one freak, break out play for a touchdown by Fitzgerald and it isn't even close. The Steelers run away with it. Wait, er...

I've always loathed Springsteen, so you can take your "anymore"s and shove it.

Actually, without the Fitzgerald TD, the Steelers sit on the ball instead of frantically trying to march down the field.
And in that scenario the total yardage would still be won by the Cards.

That isn't a freak break out play, Fitzgerald does it fairly regularly. However, Harrison returning an INT 100 yards for a TD is a freak play, great play by Harrison, but still a freak play.
ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!
YTF is the 100-yd INT a "freak play"?!?!? It was the right D, and Harrison made a great read on the slant. He showed great athleticism keeping upright when his teammate got in the way and through a few tackle attempts.
If you call that a freak play, then so are the jump balls that Fitzgerald hauls in for TDs.

And the roll of the eyes is more for the last Super Bowl the Steelers won (with the HORRID officiating that blatantly favored them over the Seahawks), even though I question several of the calls, especially some of those penalties on the third-quarter drive. But if Arizona had stopped James Harrison short at the end of the first half (never mind score), they'd be world champs right now.
Okay, if you want to replay 2006:
Spoiler:
You're totally right, you have to push off with two hands, and the guy you push has to do a full 360 degree turn in the air in order for it to be offensive pass interference. It's in the rulebook! Oh it isn't? You mean a guy just has to push hard enough to get separation? Oh yeah. And right in front of the official who is 3 feet from it? Man, what a terrible call.
And what about that holding call on the one yard line? They were locked up, the defender gets by the lineman, and then the offensive lineman is falling to the ground and clips the Steeler with his hand — TACKLING HIM. That's called holding. Oh wait, that's right, the NFL changed the rule, Offensive Linemen can tackle guys that beat them, but only if they hook the ankle. Sorry, my bad.
Didn't see the illegal block on Hasselbeck. But clearly the refs forced him to throw that interception. Damn those Zebras. Oh, and the zebras forced Shaun Alexander, the RUNNING BACK, to false start and kill a drive in the first half.
And the Zebras forced those missed field goals by blowing too hard on their whistles. Man!
Anyone see Jeremy Stevens catch the ball, put two feet on the ground, turn around, and then fumble the ball? Oh yeah, that wasn't a fumble. Right. Man, the Seaha...uh, oh yeah, the Steelers got robbed there. But the NFL does routinely give the receiver the benefit of the doubt on those. But then the Zebras forced Stevens to drop four balls. And Steven's TD wasn't a pick play on Troy Polamalu, no sir!
Roethlisberger's arm with the ball was clearly over the line while in the air. Didn't get a good look at where the ball was relative to the forearm, but that isn't that bad a call. Man, if only it had been reviewed, such a horrible call would have been overturned. Oh it was reviewed?
And the Zebras just refused to stop the clock while Hasselbeck toyed with his privates...uh...playbook at the end of the half. Man those zebras stink.
And the Zebras totally forced the Seahawks safety to take the wrong angle on Willie's 75 yard run. They probably sprayed oil on the turf, those hooligans.
And then I bet the line judge threw a block that allowed Randle-El to throw that TD that the steelers have run approximately 30 times this year. Wow, who would have thought that would happen.
Seahawks showed their lack of experience in tough postseason games, since they had such a creampuff schedule. The Steelers played poorly (look at Roethlisberger's QB rating in that game), so Seattle had a chance in that game. But the second half of close Super Bowls always reveals the better team. And Pittsburgh killed them.
Harrison should've been tossed from the game after beating on the other guy. That was inexcusible.
