Part of me would like to think that the Sugar would choose Utah or Boise State ahead of the Big East champion this year. Both have been on the national stage before (and Boise in particular would be a big draw), and both would be ranked far ahead of Pitt.

Texas Tech: idle, at Oklahoma, vs. Baylor, (possibly) Big 12 Championship
Alabama: vs. Mississippi State, idle, vs. Auburn, SEC Championship
Utah: at San Diego State, vs. BYU
Boise State: at Idaho, at Nevada, vs. Fresno State
Ball State: at Miami (OH), at Central Michigan, vs. Western Michigan, (possibly) MAC Championship
So it appears the Broncos have the easiest road to a perfect season, while the Tide should cruise into the SEC Championship with a National Championship Game bid on the line. Texas Tech has a week to prepare for the Sooners, while the Utes have a titanic season ending rivalry game. And the Cardinals finish their regular season against the two other good teams in their conference.
It is very, very likely that we may end up with only the Broncos, with the Utes having the next best chance.

If it's Cincy, they just may do so. But Pitt has a fairly large fanbase and is a pretty well known squad (it has won a national championship in the past after all) with a well known coach. It would be more well known than Utah (who I think finishes undefeated and thus gets the auto bid for the BCS).

The pundits are asking in fan polls, Utah or Boise St.

I'd send them both before I'd send a 2nd Big 10 or Pac 10. Bunch of wussies.

Oklahoma would have to jump Texas or Texas Tech would have to lose for the second one to happen (possible, but unlikely).

National Championship........ Alabama (#1) vs Texas Tech (#2)
BCS:
Fiesta................................... Texas (replacement for losing #2) vs Penn St.
Rose.....................................Mich St. (Big 10) vs USC (Pac 10)
Sugar....................................Fla (replacement for losing #1) vs Pitt (Big East)
Orange.................................Wake F/Va Tech (ACC) vs Utah (non-BCS auto qualifier)
(remember, the choice of at large goes Fiesta, Sugar, Orange this year... Rose has two auto tie ins)
ESPN websites says Orange is Best available Big 12 vs BCS at large. It also says Sugar is best available SEC vs BCS at large. Rose is best avaialable Big 10 vs best available Pac 10. Fiest is BCS at large vs BCS at large and it didn't rank who gets what of the at larges. Two of the four at-larges have to be the ACC Champ and Big East champ.
National Championship........ Alabama vs Texas Tech
Assuming ESPN is right about Big 12 going to Orange and SEC going to Sugar. And assuming pecking order of at large's is Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, this is the updated list (I think )
BCS:
Fiesta...................................Penn St. vs Utah
Rose.....................................Mich St. vs USC
Sugar....................................Fla vs Pittsburgh
Orange.................................Texas vs Wake F/Va Tech
As of now Utah and Penn St. would be the highest rated at-larges and Fiesta gets first pick. Pitts (Big East) is the next highest rated mandatory but uncommitted team. Wake For/Va Tech (ACC) is the final mandatory but uncommitted at large.
Other major New's Day Bowl's
Cotton..................................Okla vs Georgia
Gator....................................Wake F/Va Tech. vs Okla St.
Capitol One...........................Ohio St. vs N. Carolina
Outback................................Northwester n vs S. Car
PSU has IU & MSU left; MSU just PSU. Assuming PSU beats IU, loser of PSU-MSU could drop below OSU, who could end up in the Rose Bowl. They've got Illinois & U-M left.
Can I get a GO BLUE! BEAT OSU!

IF there is a 3 way tie MSU has the tiebreaker. As of now there is a 3 way tie.
