    • I truly don't understand why Alabama stayed #1.
Yes, they won, but not awe-inspiringly.

          That's funny.

TCU is 8, while the undefeated team that just beat them isn't ranked?

Not to mention Texas being 2 spots ahead of Tech.

          • If the season was over as of now the following is what the important bowl games would be. This is based on the criteria for selecting bowls as published on ESPN. Whenever a judgment call is to be made I assumed the bowl would take the highest ranked team available.

National Championship........ Alabama vs Texas Tech

            BCS:

            Fiesta...................................Okla vs Utah
            Rose.....................................Mich St. vs USC
            Sugar....................................Fla vs Penn St.
            Orange.................................Texas vs Boise

            Other major New's Day Bowl's

            Cotton..................................Okla St vs Georgia
            Gator....................................Wake F. vs Missouri
Capitol One...........................Ohio St. vs N. Carolina
            Outback................................Northwester n vs LSU

Obviously there is a lot of football to be played. And it is impossible for this to be the final outcome. For example if Mich St' loses to Penn St. they would drop all the way to the Capitol One Bowl, Penn St. would move up to the Rose Bowl and Ohio St would move to the Sugar. If Mich St. wins that game, Penn St would drop to the Capitol One and Ohio St. would move up to the Sugar.

Do you seriously not know where the rankings come from even after I posted the source? Wow.

Utah is actually 17th in that ranking.

                • Texas and Boise? Oh man. That would be a thriller.

Texas Tech plays Oklahoma next, who seems out of your analysis, DD. They're #5.

This couldn't happen as Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas are all from the Big 12 and only 2 teams per conference can make it.

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections.

Furthermore, the Big East champ (though whether that'll be Pitt or Cincy, I'm not sure) and the ACC champ (Fla St. or UNC as of right now) gets an automatic bid as well.

                    • Here is my bowl predictions, as of today (BCS only):

National Championship Game: Texas Tech (#1) vs. Florida (#2)

Fiesta Bowl: Texas (auto bid [#3], to replace losing #1) vs. Ohio State (at large)
Sugar Bowl: Alabama (at large, to replace losing #2) vs. Pittsburgh (Big East Champ)
Orange Bowl: North Carolina (ACC Champ) vs. Utah (auto bid)
Rose Bowl: Penn State (Big 10 Champ) vs. Southern Cal (Pac 10 Champ)

While Boise may finish in the Top 12, there is only a requirement that ONE BCS Buster gets an auto bid. Boise would have to depend on an at large, and I bet that the Fiesta would prefer Ohio State and its fans.

                        • Remember - Mine wasn't a prediction it was "what would it be as of today". But you are right I missed the Big East and ACC auto bid. So I guess Okla would get dropped out of the BCS and probably Boise and replace them with the ACC Champ and Big East champ which as of today would be the winner of Wake Forest Va Tech and Pittsburg.

                          • Updated due to omissions on my part.

                            AS OF TODAY:

National Championship........ Alabama vs Texas Tech

                            BCS:

                            Fiesta...................................Pittsburg vs Utah
                            Rose.....................................Mich St. vs USC
                            Sugar....................................Fla vs Penn St.
                            Orange.................................Texas vs Wake F/Va Tech

Pitts and Wake F/Va Tech would be in but their bowl is speculative. As of now Utah and Penn St. would be the highest rated at-larges and their bowls are speculative too.

                            Other major New's Day Bowl's

                            Cotton..................................Okla vs Georgia
Gator....................................Wake F/Va Tech. vs Okla St.
Capitol One...........................Ohio St. vs N. Carolina
                            Outback................................Northwester n vs S. Car

According to ESPN these games are contractual between the conferences.

I guess undefeated Boise St. gets totally dropped then. I'm not sure if a bowl like Outback HAS TO TAKE take 4th best Big 10 vs 4th best SEC or if they could take Boise St. if they wanted but this is how ESPN listed the commtiments.

                              You are insane.

As the Fiesta lost the #1 or #2 team in the land, it gets 1st or 2nd pick to replace them. They won't pick Pitt or Utah to fill that spot.

Say you think Alabama is #1, then the Sugar will obviously take Florida to replace. But the Fiesta will take Texas.

                              • I'll redo your list:

National Championship........ Alabama (#1) vs Texas Tech (#2)

                                BCS:

Fiesta................................... Texas (replacement for losing #2) vs Penn St.
Rose.....................................Mich St. (Big 10) vs USC (Pac 10)
Sugar....................................Fla (replacement for losing #1) vs Pitt (Big East)
Orange.................................Wake F/Va Tech (ACC) vs Utah (non-BCS auto qualifier)

(remember, the choice of at large goes Fiesta, Sugar, Orange this year... Rose has two auto tie ins)
