Should be a great upcoming series between the Mets and Phils. Both tied for 1st in the NL East. Let's see if the Mets can carry forth their momentum in closing the gap.

      Oof. That had to sting.

Anyway, nice to see the Yanks survive a Darrell Rasner start (he was ok, but 4BB vs 2Ks. Playin' with fire) and get some offense despite having 3 pitcher spots in the order (Molina, Melky and Gardner). Tampa lost, so they gain ground there. Boston won (man, Seattle is awful).

The wins are good. The upcoming schedule, however, is ugly. Lots of games against good teams, many of them on the road.

We in Chicago would like to thank the Yanks for putting Minnesota in their place and help the Chisox maintain their tenuous lead for another few days.

        Now, once more with feeling!

The Rays keep playing around .600 despite such a low run scored/allowed difference. Amazing. Methinks they are eventually going to fall back to earth.

They may not. They are only 4 games above their Pythagorean Standings (taking into account run scored/allowed), which isn't that great. And their star prospect SP, David Price seems soon to be called up to give another arm to the rotation.

And a deep, deep farm system to deal for hitting help.

Indeed... I wonder when we'll be welcoming the Tampa Bay PirateRays

(IE, just deal for Bay and Nady, and perhaps Snell as well... load up and go nuts...)

Well, I guess firing Willie was a good idea after all . Sole possession of 1st Place in the NL East for the Mets after beating the Phils today.

Joba v. Beckett tonight. I hope they're both on their games (but the Sox lose, obviously).

Well, if Detroit or Minnesota are gonna catch the White Sox now is the time. White Sox next 14 games are: (not in order)

                      6 vs Detroit
                      3 vs Minnesota
                      4 vs Boston
                      3 vs KC

I'll be at the Tigers White Sox game Saturday, hopefully watching Verlander pull us to 3.5 behind.

Yeah, the White Sox have a tough stretch ahead. I'll be happy with 7 wins, myself... if we do that we'll probably stay in 1st (unless we lose all 3 against MIN).

It will be a cold day in hell before we get swept twice by detroit in two series

If we take 2 from detroit, 1 from MIN, 2 from KC, and 2 from Boston, we'll be doing well. Agreed that if we get swept by any one of those teams other than BOS, it's a bad thing regardless of the win total (being swept by KC is extra bad because it's just plain embarassing ...)
