On a second thought, this remark would be more appropriate in Asher's thread.

Hey, come on Holland you should be proud of him. At least a single Dutch still fights.

I hope the Dutch will now be fans of the Russian team for the rest of this tournament.

              • RUSSIA!!!!!

Arshavin played the game of the tournament. Just absolutely sensational. I was up out of my seat for all three Russian goals... they deserved this game, since the very beginning. They played beautiful attacking football.

They are my team for the rest of the tourney.

                • Russia was good? I really don't think so.

Holland played a bad game for sure, but the russians really did not impress me.

And what was up with the ref withholding the second yellow card for Kovalev (or whatever his name) in the 90th minute? That was a really cheap move

In all: a pity the Dutch didn't advance to the next phase, and I think it's van Basten to blame, who tried to put the Dutch team into the position of underdog (at least in the Dutch press) while he should have played from the strength that was showed in the first three games. No pressure on the Russians

Oh, and the fans in the stadium Did anybody hear the Dutch? If you go to a game, cheer for your team, don't wait untill they are ahead in the game

                    Um..

I wonder which game you may have been watching. Russia were knocking on the doors all match long. Holland was lucky to escape into extra time.

Well, I think when its obvious it wasn't even a foul (though linesman said the ball went out before the incident), it looks a much better decision.

to be honest, it's been the first time in my life i''ve seen the ref go back on a yellow card.

                      • There was a wistle before the incident. And the player's name is Kolodin. He has two yellows, so he misses next match. If the referee had shown a yellow, that automatically meant red, and considering the exact episode I don't think Russia deserved to play without a key defender.
Compare it with the France- Italy game. In that game there was an obvious fault, "the fault of last hope" and after French player was sent-off, the outcome was obvious.
Once again, we didn't deserved a sent-off. Not for that episode, not after the game was stopped by the linesman, not after a clear penalty after a much more obvious fault in the Dutch box, the ref just didn't noticed... not, not, not.

If you gonna say that ref won this game for us, I'll just laugh.

I would have cheer Holland, in case if I was correct. I like them and I really regret that wasn't a final game. Holland deserved more.
But, what the heck? WE WON!!!

I saw when a player remain in play after to yellows and was sent-off only after a third So what?

I don't really think the Dutch will complain about that ref's decision. Hell, I don't even know why I discuss this episode. That desicion didn't cost them a victory.

You can't even imagine what was going on here (despite it was a deep night).
                              Tonight Russia has gone mad.
