Only one word counts for what I feel right now.

Flabbergasted.

Here, the Dutch have shown us amazing, world-class football in the group stage, against no. 1 and 2 from the last world cup, and now this. They have only themselves to thank for tonight's defeat. They were uninspired. Lacking of ideas in attack.

And the Russians were really, really good. Sadly.

I had so many emotions riding in this game. I REALLY don't like Russia, for one, and I am not particularly fond of Russians either. (Flame me if you like - I don't care. I am a child of the cold war, and while that may not count as an excuse, nothing you say will change that). Secondly, the way the Dutch have played until tonight, I was beginning to really like them. Great football, great matches, and great individual skill.

But for the life of me, I don't understand what happened tonight. Of course I didn't expect a walk-over after what the Russians showed us against Sweden, but to go out there and totally dominate Holland like that was amazing.

Russia...a well deserved win for you. You played amazing football, truly the way I love to see the game being played. I am only sorry to say that it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. My fault for that...not yours.

But what a game.

Oh yeah....I forgot to add. If you want sure money, bet on Italy in tomorrow's quarter-final against Spain.

I wanted the Chezcs to win against Turkey. They lost.
I wanted Austria to win against Germany. They lost.
I wanted France to win against Italy. They lost.
I wanted Portugal to win against Germany. They lost.
I wanted Croatia to win against Turkey. They didn't lose, but were knocked out.
I wanted Holland to win against Russia. They lost.

I want Spain to win against Italy. The way my Euro Champs has been going, they will surely lose. And you can take that to the bank

And tonight's game should have been a final, really). So, Mr. Van Basten, you have my respect and

(though your team were VERY unlucky two years ago), but tonight it wasn't about luck or something. Thank you Mr. Van Basten. Thank you team Holland. You showed a real world-class, a trully Dutch total football, but Hiddink is the best Holland coatch EVER!!!

It's HAPPINESS. And I am happy, now.

I am a child of Cold War either, but I never disliked Holland. Moreover - I respect them for their total football of 1988, despite they have defeated us in the final.
But I can understand your feelings (even your hate).

Seriously,

I just realized:

I wanted Turkey to win against the Chezcs.
I wanted Germany to win against Austria.
I wanted Italy to win against France.
I wanted Germany to win against Portugal.
I wanted Turkey to win against Croatia.
I wanted Russia to win against Holland.

And I don't care which of the 5 teams wins this tourney now..., this prolly means lots of penalties. Sigh.
