I thought that for a long time also, but the problem was he isn't good enough at downfield passing, which means he didn't work for the Bears' offense. Grossman is hit or miss, he has one game rating 100-120 and another game at rating 40 or less. Griese consistently was sort of passable, but never great; and while in 2006 that might have been good enough with that defense, in 2007 it certainly wasn't.
Grossman could, in theory, suddenly figure it out and be a good QB for the Bears. Maybe a 0.1% chance, but it's there. Griese could never do that, unfortunately; not in the Bears' scheme at least.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Griese had the gall to take credit for leading the team downfield in the final minute for a win. His headset didn't work, so he called his own plays. Made the offensive coodinator look bad.
