  • Briggs was 6yr/36m according to ESPN. Seems low... wasn't he expecting something like 7-8m a year??

                  Quote of the Week II

"I just want to be able to win and get back to the Super Bowl.''

--Philadelphia cornerback Asante Samuel, who got $20 million guaranteed in a six-year, $57 million contract with the Eagles on Friday.

If that's what was most important, then why didn't Samuel stay with New England? Does he, or his agent, really think the Eagles have a better shot to get back to the Super Bowl than the Patriots in the next two or three years?

"I just want to be able to win and get back to the Super Bowl.''

You know what I want? I want one of these guys, just once, to say, "You know, I do want to win, but facts are facts. The Patriots were only going to pay me $6 million a year. The Eagles went to $9.5M a year. Do I look that stupid to turn down all that money?'' But no. We have to hear this phony stuff about how players sign with lesser teams because they really want to win. Save us.

Griese traded: Hopefully we managed to get a 6th for him, but even a 7th will help (extra RG or whatever)...

Turner to Atlanta: Any chance we can turn that Griese DP into Jerious Norwood

                    • Jets are signing up OL FAs: Damien Woody gets 5yrs, $25.5M, 11M guaranteed.

This seems odd to me, as he didn't cut it as a G for Detroit. He got a chance at RT because Foster sucked and IIRC a combination of suckage and injuries for others they plugged in there.

Guess Woody did well enough to get paid, though.

                      • Why are the Jets running up the salaries the Bears will have to pay for mid-level-crappy OLs

                        • This will save the Bears money. They already have plenty of mid-level crappy OLs on the roster -- at bargain prices.

Bears current WRs: Mark Bradley, Devin Hester, Rashied Davis, Mike Hass

Amazingly, Bradley and Hester are favored to start at this point. I'm OK with inexperience, but the real problem I see is with blocking. These guys are all runts. Say what you will about Moose's speed and hands, he was always a willing and capable blocker.

                              • Good to see Griese back, as we never should have let him leave two years ago. He knows the system, likely comes cheap, will play cheap, and allow us to get rid of some of the talentless hacks we currently have in the QB ranks *cough* *named Gradkowski* *cough* *hack*.
