Benitez says the ref did a good job:

""The referee was OK, I cannot complain for the referee because I think he was not bad. Sometimes it is for you, sometimes against, but I think he wasn't the difference," said Benitez.

Or how about the running report of the game:

"2158: Sami Hyypia tumbles in the box and a few Chelsea players are waving imaginary cards, accusing the defender of diving. Certainly wasn't a penalty."

Beniteiz' reaction is called having a bit of class, Wenger should take note....The ref thought is was a good claim (as did the Sky commentators watching replays), he had his whistle in his mouth ready to blow. You quoting one source that didn't think it was a pen doesn't really prove anything.

The ref thought it was a good claim for a penalty because he had his whistle in his mouth... but didn't actually give it? That is golden, how considerate of him.

The Sky Sports report says nothing about the Liverpool claim for a penalty either. How could that be if it was a good claim, or even an incident worth mentioning according to the Sky commentators? Damn BBC and Sky Sports...

If Benitez did just take it with some class, I wonder why the Liverpool fans won't do the same

                            • I'm taking the loss with a bit of class, its you that seems to have the problem of accepting your team was knocked out of the CL fairly...Fair enough, Liverpool were beaten but Arsenal were still unlucky????? After having a good penalty turned down and conceding an own goal with the last touch of the game I'd like to hear a definition of 'unlucky' that could be applied to Arsenal going out that wouldn't also apply to Liverpool. Bottom line is Arsenal wern't unlucky, we were both beaten and were both out.

For the record, even Andy Gray (the Sky commentator) thought it was a pen and he doesn't usually give us much

No, you're not taking it with class though. You're trying to argue you went out because you didn't get an imaginary penalty.

The Riise own goal is called justice, and just ****ing poor defending from a one-footed player. Nothing unlucky about it.

I support Spurs, and it makes no difference to me if Arsenal are in or out, if it's done fairly either way.

Arsenal should have had a penalty against you and that is pretty much unanimous among the press too.

Liverpool's penalty claim against Chelsea is practically non-existent in the press, so I don't know what they thought of it...
