  • Boston up 2-0 headed to a three game set out West against the Lakers.

I was thinking if they could maybe pick up one victory out West, come back home to the parque floors of "The Garden" then remembered, no mas garden

Memories of Havileck stole the ball, Havileck stole the ball... coming from Johnny Most

    Memories...and another team..

Boston looked good at least in first half before I went to sleep.

    • The Celtics showed a dangerous tendency to play with their food.
They had the Lakers down by 20+ but let them back in the game.
That's not what champions normally do.

At least they held serve at home. They have a great shot.

      • Yes, now that they have held serve, it will come back to the Garden (unless they can win two games in LA)

If they can win just one of the next three, there chances are looking REAL GOOD. Even if they don't win a single game in LA, they can still win, but it will be a lot tougher.

          Thats a great analogy -Jrabbit

As a fighter I learned a long time ago, they give an opponent a chance to respond.

This is of course why I have a problem when people complain about a team running up the score.

          How far is far?

Lets see if Celtic pride will carry them through

          • Donaghy claims a 2002 playoff series was fixed

            ...

According to the Daily News, Donaghy told the feds two referees fixed the outcome of one NBA playoff series in 2002. Donaghy also claimed that officials were told not to eject star players in fear of hurting ticket sales.

            ...

Donaghy, who pleaded guilty in August 2007 to charges of betting on games he officiated, claimed that he was told two officials were "company men" acting in the interest of the league to extend a 2002 playoff series to a seventh game.

Donaghy also said the league reprimanded a referee in 2000 for ejecting an unnamed star player in the first quarter of a game.
If this is true (and I have every reason to believe Donaghy) it has to be the Lakers/Kings conference finals that year. Game 6 of that series to this day remains the most ridiculous display of bull**** officiating I've ever seen. And if it's true, the NBA should be held to the metaphorical Bunsen burner and made to squirm.

EDIT: And looking at the history... the ONLY playoff series that year that went to seven was in fact Lakers/Kings.

            Burn, NBA, burn.

                • Well, that's hardly surprising. Anyone who watched that game knew the fix was in; even many Lakers fans would admit that.

And would anyone be shocked to hear similar allegations about that Portland-LA series a couple years prior?

                      • As much as the refs were trying to assure an even series going into game 5, in the first quarter, it was nice to see the celts prevail anyway.

                        • Pretty sad excuse for championship basketball tonight. Sloppy play on both sides. Hopefully the Celtics can finish it off in 6 at home.

                          • Naw, the league office has already informed the refs to make it go 7 games.

After watching the US Open all day, I was looking forward to a good game. But the US Open was far more exciting and interesting
