  • Well what a week

It does look like Spiritual Depantsing will take over the overall lead this week (unless something unusual happens)

I have to say that I am pretty ok with my team's results. On a week when lecavilier and Briere didn't contribute much and my many many goalies got soundly beaten (unless Harding gets a shutout which I think VERY unlikely) my team is still in the thick of things thanks mainly to Tanguay

Now it seems that Sparrow has 5 skaters today to my 3 so it will be interesting to see how it plays out

    • For my game (losing 3-4) it's down to:
SHO: If osgood gets a shutout tonight it's tied 3-3
+/-: I have Lidstrom, Kunitz, and Bouchard going; two of those are +8 or better on the year, and Kunitz is only -1. If I'm plus I win that currently tied stat.
A: I'm back by 3 right now; the only reason i'm starting Kunitz is hoping he contributes to A's (that, and they're playing a weaker EDM team so hopefully that will help give him +).

I'm set in my lineup here, but i'm curious - would people have done things differently, specifically:
      * Not benched Budaj as I did, going against MIN, and only up by .030 in Goalie SV%, on the hope he gets a SHO (I'm up in wins already)?
      * Benched Kunitz and/or Bouchard, knowing Lidstrom is basically guaranteed a plus, and just given up on A's?

What a week indeed. However it turns out, thanks Flubber. Your frequent postings and detailed analysis actually had me watching my own team closer then usual and I enjoyed this week all the more because of it.

As for my "5 skaters today" to your 3, more like your 3 against my 2. 3 of my skaters are listed as DTD, and as far as I know, won't be playing today.

I have a similar dilemma in that Luongo and Vancouver are playing Detroit. I lead Flubber in save percentage and have wins wrapped up. The only reason to play Luongo is to try for the shutouts which I doubt they will get facing Detroit.

Having said that, you can't win without your players playing, so it would take an extreme case for me not to dress a player that I can. The only stats taht can be hurt by playing a player are +/- and save percentage, and I think both are like a crap shoot, so I play all the players I can in almost every situation.

No problem-- I am enjoying the playing of the pool more than I care about the "winning" or the "losing" of it. If my opponent benefits from a comment I make and change something and I lose a stat because of it . . . oh well-- what does it matter anyway?

I saw the three DTDs but wasn't sure how likely they were to play-- I hate DTD-- I had Emery on it for most of the first 3 weeks and was stuck-- too good a player to drop

Oh and the goalie situation -- I had hoped to complicate it a bit-- If Harding could have had a stellar day on sv% it might have "forced" you to play Luongo.

But Luongo is your #1 guy so I think you would tend to play him anyway. I know in the three prior weeks I think I always played my top goaltender in the quest for shutouts even though I had a lead in sv% and wins sewed up. But playing detroit?? A shutout is unlikely so I wouldn't blame you if you sat him-- then again a sub .900 game is probably also unlikely since he would have to surrender a lot of goals given the numbers of shots Detroit usually produces

You have an advantage in that the Minny game is over long before you need to make a decision-- I need Harding to be stellar but since he has already allowed a goal I don't even know that even if he was flawless the rest of the way and stopped 25 more shots , it would be enough (kinda need to have the raw shots and goals data to calculate that)

          • Managers involved in the trades should check your rosters and reset your benches.

Make sure I redid the trades properly.

              • wow Edmonton tied the Ducks late-- The OT is looking like a Ducks PP-- its not a PP but it is looking awful one-sided-- Edmonton will probably get one chance and score

                • With my hockey luck today, Perry's going to score another goal...giving MrBoo 4 goals today.

                    Pretty close.

Garon played a very solid game.

                      • Not positive, but I think Flubber and I ended out 3-3-2. Not as great as I had hoped at one point this week but considering how both of our respective teams have been doing so far I am happy with that result.

I am actually reasonably happy about it as well. I emphasize goalies enough that to not win any of the goalie categories is a bit of a blow. My goalie stats WERE good enough to win one or two goalie categories against every other player this week though so it wasn't as if they were bad or anything-- Simply what killed me was Toskala. In a week where Cam ward was bad enough to counterbalance Luongos's sv %, it was Toskala and his .948 and two wins that made your day. Without that pickup, I believe I win save % and tie on wins and I would have had a 4-1-3-- Good move!!

Offensively-- my skaters again did just enough to win the majority of the categories by a narrow margin although your Brind'Amour almost singlehandedly sunk me.

A fun week-- On to my "depantsing"-- I see the Rangers as due to come out of their funk so Lundeqvist may get some wins-- Can the Rangers talent actually score that few goals?? Also can anyone stop Zetterberg??

                          • The Rangers' offense better wake up soon. I need some production out of Shanahan and they need to stop making Lundqvist get a shutout for them to have a chance to put up a W.

                            • My analysis of my week this week is much more succinct than last week

If Zetterberg and Biron and Lundeqvist contine to play at such a high level . .. . . I am screwed.
