Yeah, trades today become effective monday according to Yahoo. So it'd be for next week.

The negotation of trying to make trades is FUN-- I could grow to like it
Seriously -- I think that there can often be times where both sides can improve their teams-- NO one on my roster is sacred. If you want to talk trade, message me.
I may even be looking for goaltending
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
I find it always painful. If I don't like players, I drop them...if I'm trading I'm giving away players I like on my team.
(Except McCabe -- who wants him)

If both sides cannot improve by trading, why would one trade? I assume that is always the case, except where one person is trying to sucker the other. Any trade proposed to me I ask, how does this improve my team? If it does not have any real chance of improving my team, I assume the offering person is either an idiot or trying to sucker me (and either way no trade will happen)...

All true-- In our circumstances I have/ had an abundance of good goalkeepers, who, due to roster restrictions, could not always be fully utilized. Others had more offense that sometimes sat for the same reason.
It was pretty easy to see who had goalie issues and I received a couple of offers that were thought provoking and led to negotiation-- ( as well as one that wasn't and didn't )
At the end of the day I actually enjoyed the process and even if a trade doesn't work out well for me, c'est la vie--I will probably try to trade again--Its actually interesting just to try

Well, I've made five reasonable trade offers for goalies (dangling names such as St Louis and Kopitar), and while people have been tempted, no one wants to trade goalies...

In my case neither from my assessment-- While I am sure you would only do a trade you saw as good for you--
I thought the reason we declined a couple of deals each was just our different views as to value and our different needs for our teams. BUt I didn't think anything put forth was too outlandish

I just didn't want to trade the goalie you wanted for what you offered-- I thought all your offers were "reasonable" -- I have PMed you with my rationale

Maybe it was the size of the trades-- Its tougher to trade the guy you see as your number one guy despite the enticement

Not referring to you, I thought your trade offer an attempt to buy low, which is neither - buy low means you think the guy will improve and you hope I am ready to give up on him. Could improve both of us (I get something for nothing, while you get something better). Part of it is I don't know the guy you were offering me, so all I could do was judge him by his mediocre stats. Not knowing hockey and just using stats is a bit of a handicap
But maybe I can start watching my local team's games soon

The difference in valuation is typically where trades come from. I consider someone a great player and you consider him crap, and the other way around on another player. So we swap... You also get 'need' position trades, but I think the former (valuation) has to be present somewhat, as it's too hard to get a deal that helps both players, unless you have two people with huge holes and exactly complimentary excesses.
I'd think that Asher and Tingkai should be able to get a lot of trades done, for example
