Yelle is what I call a defensive forward. That's also what he calls himself, and Sutter calls him...but what do they know?

Regarding your quote: I've actually called Duhatschek an idiot already many months ago. He's very hit and miss.

And I knew I heard your argument before somewhere about Leopold, because it's a strange one. It's nice to know you are a google whore, Molly Style. Unlike Molly, you need to learn to try to pretend the arguments are your own, you just admitted you steal your arguments from elsewhere.

Duhatschek stopped paying attention to the Flames long ago. He thinks Leopold was a major part of the team? His defensive abilities are easily matched if not exceeded by Hale or Stuart. Hale especially is great in shutdown rolls.

The problem is the system, or lack thereof. Sutter played a system that drastically reduced shots on goal, Playfair plays a more open system that is dreadfully bad. Blaming Leopold's absence is ridiculous, because as I'm sure you know, Leopold didn't put in 60 minutes of icetime a game. The problem isn't as simple as Regehr 'playing injured', the problem isn't as simple as Leopold no longer with the team, the problem is the guy who tells the players what to do...he's an idiot.

What does being stubborn have to do with hiring a coach who's style is incompatible with the way the GM built the team? You'd think that would be one of the first things you'd look at/ask before you do your hiring.

It has to do with not firing him.

Perhaps he was convinced after last year's playoffs that the game needed to be opened up for more scoring, and Playfair was confident he could do it.

        He opened it up alright...

        • What luck!

A must-win game, and we get a McRef.

            From the Globe:
Once more, the Flames will have a sizeable hole in their defence corps when they host the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Robyn Regehr, who re-injured a knee in Sunday's Game 2 loss in Detroit, did not participate in today's morning skate and is not expected to play tonight.

Once again, Asher's cred takes a massive hit.

            • What is their source?

Playfair says it's not a re-injury, looks to me like lazy journalism on their behalf...

Playfair's official comment on it was Regehr certainly did not return too early. This injury was the left leg, for the record. People are making assumptions, as arts students tend to do...

And for the record, the Globe and Mail is no definitive source on hockey? What the hell are you thinking...

                Who should I believe?

Eric Duhatschek: a guy who has earned a living writing about hockey, particularly the Flames, for over 20 years, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, oh, and a fellow Western alumnus.

Or Asher: a computer geek who doesn't play hockey, doesn't understand hockey, doesn't know a guy on the team he cheers for is a checker, doesn't know what the word checker means, watches a game and doesn't know what's going on, and who thinks a game is hopelessly loss when the score is 2-1.

                Yup, tough decision.

                  • And putting "Western alumnus" as part of his credentials? Seriously?

You also forgot the guy doesn't play hockey, so by your definition he knows ****.

                    • Are you watching the game, Tingkai?

I'm still waiting for your analysis of "Playfield's" system.

                      • Nope, I've got work to do.

All jiving aside, I hope the Calgary fans can give the Flames the boost they need to make this series interesting. Good luck to them.

                          • Uh...why is Detroit getting away with crashing Kipper?

That's 3 times this series already...

                            • Could you tell that Sutter talked to the team today?

Last time Sutter talked to the team, they went on a six-game winning streak...

                              • Draper got checked into him. Maybe if the Flames would stop knocking Wings into their goalie...

                                Rats, Calgary scored.
