so 5 points with 8 games to go? It doesn't seem like much but if the Flames garner just 8 points in 8 games, then the Avs would need 13 of a possible 16 down the stretch (ie 6-1-1).

But the Flames biggest nemesis . . . the big bad ROAD looms large. Its simple.... the Flames very quickly learn to be good on the road or they won'tmake the playoffs. This road thing is crazy. They just finished beating two of the top teams in the west in games the Flames deserved to win . . . they should be able to be a .500 road team

But there are some good tests along the way

1. Chicago-- the Flames totally blew two games to them earlier this year and should want revenge. Hopefully this one will be a good start to the trip

2 and 3-- Minnesota-- THis is a team that plays awesome at home and a really good test. Taking two in Minny's barn would be a fantasy come true.

4.Canucks-- The Flames seemed to handle them early in the season but IIRC Vancouver has pretty much won the last 4 or so. This, like Chicago, is unfinished business. Luongo though can be extremely tough


The bottom line for the Flames is that the Avs are almost irrelevent right now. If they are truly a very good team, they will take 6 points on this trip since they need to. If they are unable to take at least 4 points , it causes me to doubt the ability to win in a crunch and if they can't do that, they are not going very far even if they manage to edge out the Avs

Haven't you been telling NYE all year that exchanging players in order to maximize the number of games played is a cheap and meaningless way to win?

Because it's already been established that those are the rules of the game in this league, so you may as well go for it. As I said, the main thing here is I beat nye and lord that over him, this is all icing on the cake.

And if I can use nye's tactic to get even farther ahead of him in the rankings, why not?

Heh - I was tempted to make moves yesterday too, but decided to stick to what I said midweek. Tiki adding a couple of games just changes our skater games difference from +1 in my direction to +1 in his direction - so it's not a big deal.

Best of luck, Tiki! I guess with the early games this will be all but decided mid-afternoon, but I won't be in until this evening.
