Why do you say it is meaningless?

I'd say it reflects Brodeur's dominance in the league (although Luongo is giving Brodeur a run for the money for the title of best goalie).

Why would you say I've never heard of that?

It's actually unusual for that to happen with modern goalies on teams with balls. Most teams with men have d-men that block shots these days. Calgary's D blocks shots, for instance.

I think you haven't watched many hockey games in recent years, and it shows.

Duh? Because of shootout wins...take away shootout wins and he's nowhere near the record.

He didn't give it away. He knocked it out of the air and got a bad bounce.
      He gave it away...

      • For the first time in history, both Stanley Cup Finalists didn't make the playoffs...that's so fitting, given how lucky both were last year.

              • I predict Edmonton will score a goal.

Did you want something more definitive then that?

                • I think it's surprisingly up in the air, given how the Flames are playing now. I so want Playfair to get fired...

He looks so nervous all the time, it doesn't help the team at all. He's so clueless. Argggh.

Because you don't play hockey and you've proven time and again that you don't understand hockey.

The idea that Canucks "intentionally allow more shots on goal" is one of the dumbest things you ever said. No team intentionally allows shots on goal.

The shootout wins do not make his record meaningless. Brodeur has set the benchmark for the new era. That makes his 48 wins very meaningful.

Again, you demonstrate how little you know about hockey. He made the right decision, batting down the puck to get it out of the zone, but he got a bad bounce. That's not a giveaway. If you played hockey you would understand.

                          Yes, twice.

We want to hear you scream for Flames blood!

Yes, they do. I've seen Luongo say it himself for christ sakes. I've seen his d-men talk about it. He doesn't want the d-men to block shots, which intentionally allows more shots on goal. See?

The shootout wins do not make his record meaningless.
They make breaking the record meaningless because they were in a different era. See?

To me a giveaway is when you give the opposition the puck. Whether you pass it to them or knock it down out of the air to them, a giveaway is a giveaway.

You really need to get off this "you need to play hockey to understand" when you proceed to be incorrect right after it. Playing hockey does not automatically make you the source of hockey, it's actually unrelated.

                            • It's possible that the NHL will once again have a team make the playoffs despite having more losses than the team that doesn't get in (Flames/Av's).

Who gets in if Colorado wins both of their games but Calgary gets an OT loss against Edmonton and they end up tying?

getting a point for an OT loss

A loss should count as a loss, period. It's ridiculous that teams get a point for tying and then losing it 5 minutes later (or after the shootout).

Oh well, the NHL is a suckfest anyways. This is just one more reason why...
To us, it is the BEAST.

                                Oh, get off it.

You ignore hockey all season on here then you come in at the end of whine about a technicality with a troll. Go away...
